Thumbs up pre LC advice?

Hello, -- new here-- how's everyone doing today?

I am geering up to start myself off on this lc lifestyle and would love any pre LC advice. I have been upping my water intake, which before recently was nil. so I am getting used to drinking water. (the only liquid I would drink before was milk and coffee and the occasional cocktail)
I am going on a trip in four days, for about a week. So I am planning on starting the diet about three days after I get back so I have time to get settled back here and throw everything out. (I plan on doing alot of throwing out before I go). I have the husband on board with me and plan on introducing my son who is twelve to this way of eating as well.

I am in the process of readng the atkins diet but am somewhat familiar with this "diet", but would love to hear any ways that you felt helped making it through the first week or two of induction, before I start this.. would be helpful!
Thanks

Best thing you can do is read the book and prepare. Take it one day at a time. I have my children somewhat on it also. although they do eat grain and I don't. I just give them less than most kids get. BUt they are alot younger than your son. Good luck and happy lowcarbing SMuffy

Default thanks smuffy

Thanks! I am somewhat familiar with an lc diet due to when I was a teen and was told by my doctor that a low carb/ high protein would be a way for me to handle a hypoglycemia diagnosis. But my family was not helpful and I had little control or desire to stop eating what was being served to me.
I also have an uncle who is a doctor who swears by it as well as two friends who have noticeably lost weight with it. I was wondering what to expect during the first week? Will I be ready to bite the heads off friends and family? should I be warning people? LOL

Welcome to the forum, Itsallgood!

You shouldn't be irritable, but you might feel tired. I felt tired for a week, but that got better and it hasn't happened again (I started Protein Power on July 29, 2002, and I've lost 31 pounds so far). I HIGHLY recommend that you read all over this forum. This place has been a godsend for me. Support, experience, information, answers to every question I had, positive affirmation. All here. Hope you start a journal too!

Best of luck to you!!!! Remember, this is a way of LIFE. I.e., it's permanent.

Best, Kypraia
