Smile Read this book "The No-Grain Diet" by Dr. Joseph Mercola

I've recently bought this book and it's fantastic.

I went on Atkins a few years ago and had farely good results although I was never obese - just 2 dress sizes larger than my normal. I found my hunger also seemed to fade which was good.

I didn't feel like I was getting nourished though, and this book is really good - you cut out all grains and sugars which is really simple because you can still select foods from a large variety of vegetables, diary and meat. Your body eventually normalises it's blood sugar levels because its not getting all the fluctutions you get when you eat carbohydrates and sugar and therefore uses its stored carbohydrates as fuel, thus burning your body fat. It makes perfect sense to still nourish your body with good old vegetables too

If anyone has tried this diet, let me know how you found it.

I disagree on some of Dr Mercola's ideas, too, but I'd love to read that book sometime. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a used copy. (I'm a cheapo. )

Good luck; I'll be interested in seeing how you like it.

Does it exclude dairy as well? This probably makes it similar to Neanderthin or the Paleo Diet.

Default mercola and dairy

I've noticed that on his web site, J. Mercola recommends avoiding dairy, yet his book includes dairy recipes or snack ideas.

He seems to be quite against non-organic, pasteurized milk, but fonder of organic, "raw" milk.

I may be taking the plunge and trying this plan out myself; there is quite a bit of anecdotal evidence on the web that shows it helping people with autoimmune disorders. I've got autoimmune thyroid disorder, so it would be a relief to get my autoimmunity under control.
