Default Sugar free gum or candy?

Quick question. My husband and I are on a Atkins together. He is inquiring about being allowed sugar free gum or a piece of sugar
free hard candy? I think it is a no no, I am posting because my 4 year old has taken off with my carb reference guide! (Thanks God he does not have a weight problem!)

'sugar-free' can be a deceptive term. Sometimes it means that fructose or sugar alcohols (which for most people may as well be sugars) are the sweetener.

In hypserinsulemic people, any sweet taste can trigger a surge of insulin (even if you'd spit out the food), which would stop fat-burning, trigger cravings.

Tell DH to try to eliminate all artificial sweeteners. Veggies will start tasting very sweet, the pattern that resulted in overweight in the first place will be broken, and there will be no health risks from dangers of artificial sweeteners.

HTH!
