Default Glad to be here (goodbye Martinis)

Well this site has certainly been refreshing. I've spent several hours a day reading numerous posts, recipes, articles, etc. I've been on the Protein Power program since May but have only lost 13 lbs (but I know why).
I'm heavily into weight lifting and biking (stationary type) and do eight 45 min to 1 hour workouts per week. Although only losing 13 lbs in 5 months, I have decreased my body fat by 2%. Having said all that, I still have a noticable layer of fat covering the muscle I've bulit up in the last year. The reason is alcohol. Protein Power allows you to have alcohol (within set guidelines). I'm a martini lover and enjoy a martini or two a night. Well as most of you regulars to the forum know, this drastically slows the fat burning down since the liver will burn alcohol before stored fat to produce keytones.
So my advice to all PP folks is to go cold turkey on the alcohol for the quickest wiegh loss.
Glad to be part of this great LC group and will keep you posted with my progress.

Bottoms Up

Default Goodbye Martinis

Yes it is quite sad to say goodbye to them, especially those blue ones made with blue curacao. However, I have found that if I limit my drinking to red wine (NOT WHITE, for some reason) and either bourbon or vodka mixed with soda water or on the rocks, it hasn't slowed me up too much. Of course, I also had to cut it down to one or two nights a week.
I think that a glass of good red wine at dinner is always a nice way to end the day, no matter what!
Bon chance!!!
Syrie
P.S. I miss beer.
