Talking Swing Dancing

I have registered me and Chris for a swing dancing class in Surrey. It starts Sept 25 and goes till Dec 11. Every Tuesday night from 7:10 to 8:30.

There is room left if anyone is interested in going. I have been swing dancing for a little over 2 years now (well, up until I moved back to Vancouver) and I tell you, what a way to excercise!

It is so much fun you won't even realize the work out you are giving your body!

If anyone else is interested in going here is the website for the Surrey Parks and Rec Leisure Guide. It is on page 14.

http://www.city.surrey.bc.ca/ParksR...Guide/adult.pdf

PS. If any of you decide to go, I know a great Swing Dance Hall that everyone dresses up in the best skirts and suits. With great live bands as well!

Hope some of you will be able to join!

Default Cha Cha...anyone??

My dh and I used to be competitive ballroom dancers. Actually, he danced in the Champion Level and I was in Silver/Gold. We competed with our partners in the International Ten Dance Catagory (Waltz, Tango, Slow Fox, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Samba, Jive) We also do some West Coast Swing.

We tried some Swing class at the Robson Square Dances in the summer, it was fun. In fact tonight is the last night for Free dancing lessons (8:00pm - 8:30pm) You can find out more from Dancesport BC http://www.dancesportbc.com/dsbc/

Dancesport BC is a non-profit organization with lots of resources for people who likes to dance for fun (social dancers) and also for competitors.

You will have a great time with your lessons Linnea.
Unfortunately, its too far for us to go.

If you are interested in some cha cha lessons, I know of a very good instructor that teaches out at UBC and she also holds semi-private classes in Richmond and Vancouver.

Where is the Swing Dance Hall? We would probably like to drop by and enjoy the music.

Thanks!

Thumbs up Dancing is THE best

I HATE exercise. I just lovvvvvvvvvvve dancing. I could go on all night. Especially free-form dancing where I just move where-ever my body feels like moving and make little patterns that keep varying.

I changed my exercise regime to dancing 10 mins every morning and 2 hours Sat and Sun and I just love it.

I didn't realise you had a surrey in Vancouver. We have one in UK too.
Let the Dancer in you come alive.
Take care

I don't know where Orwilla is in connection to Toronto, but I know there is a large contingent of Social Ballroom dancers in Ontario. Here's a link http://www.dancesport.ca/cada/ and look for the Ontario dancing bodies and they will point you to some fun instructors.

I truly believe Ballroom Dancing is the only exercise you can do with your mate in public when you are any age. It keeps you together and you get a nice evening out and spend virtually nothing. Cost for a Saturday night dance (from 8pm to midnight)is $8/person at the Grand Ballroom in Richmond. That works out to $2/hr and they provide tea/coffee and snacks. Usually a veggie plate and some chips or cheese plate.
