Default Confused about vitamins

I am a bit confused about all the vitamins and stuff. I have read atkins book and I plan to start the induction phase on December 30th. What type of vitamins should I take. I don't care about how many i take, I just want to make sure I get alot of stuff. So which vitamins do I need?

Thanks!

Definately a good multi-vitamin, probably a calcium supplement, and probably "essential oils" (Omega 3) if you don't have any blood pressure problems, you might want to consider a potassium supplement.

Take a look at the supplement forum - there are many more supplements that people take, but the above ones are what I would consider basic.

The 3 biggies in LCing are:
  • A good multi vitamin
  • A calcium / magnesium combination supplement- ratio usually 2:1, chelated (malate, citrate - not calcium carbonate) 1200-1500mg RDA for cal / 400-600mg RDA for Magensium
  • Potassium - either in pill form or from a salt substitute such as Morton's Light Salt, or NuSalt. 400mg a day (4 pills or 1/8th of a teaspoon of salt substitute) - potassium comes with a warning; if you're on certain medications (beta blockers) or if you've got a history of heart problems and/ or high blood pressure check with your doctor or specialist first. Potassium should always be supplemented when you're well hydrated.

Anti-oxidants are up there on the list of vits and supplements that are highly recommended for any way of eating. These include:
  • Vitamin C - 1000mg, either a time release forumla or in 250mg doses
  • Vitamin E - 400 I.U. is the minimum
  • Beta-Carotene - about 5,000-10,000IU per day of beta-carotene will give you 3-6mg of Vitamin A

Supplement Resources is a good thread to check out - you'll find links to websites with reviews of different supplements along with recommended doses.
