Default carb count in homemade yogurt

I just wanted another opinion. I am making my own yogurt with Hood's whole milk and Stonyfield's yogurt as a starter? This might be a dumb question, but as long as I add the # of calorie and carb counts of the ingredients I used, it won't produce more carbs or calories during the incubation period will it? For example I use 2 cups of milk with 130 calories and 3 carbs each with 1/8 of a cup of yogurt which is approximately 15 calories and 2 carbs. Therefore my whole recipe should have about 8 carbs and 275 calories? Thanks.

The first time I made it, the yogurt turned out great and is a real treat. I just like it plain.

Are you using the Stonyfield full fat or low fat yogurt? My FF says it should have almost 23 calories for 1/8 cup.

I see no reason why/how the calorie or carb count should/could increase during incubation. It sounds likd a winner to me. Enjoy.

Could you share with us how creamy and thick it turns out with Hood's whole milk?

In induction you shouldn't be worried about calories. Yogurt and the milk are also not on the list of acceptable induction foods. Since you are only 10 pounds away from goal though it's probably not your first 2 weeks, and you should be starting premaintanance soon anyway.

Stoney field yogurt only has about 8g net at most for 1/2 cup, and that's all you need to start a pint of yogurt. If you have 1 cup of yogurt, I'd say figure 3g net for the milk then an extra 2 for the starter meaning 5 total for an entire cup. 1/2 cup of yogurt is actually a large serving though.

You can also get freeze dried starter that doesn't have carbs (at least not as much as the yogurt) and works great.
