Default Anyone notice improvement in sinus allergies?

Hi,

Like a lot of people, I've noticed tremendous improvements in my hair and skin. I've had bad eczema since childhood which has now almost completely cleared up.

But I am really surprised to find that this spring I did not have ANY of my regular allergic reactions to pollen, etc. (watery, itchy eyes, sneezing, coughing.) Every spring I suffer for a couple of months and have to take an antihistamine daily. This year - not so much as a sneeze.

Anyone else notice this?

K.

I keep reading about these benefits, but unfortunately I haven't seen any of them here

I have terrible allergies, and all kinds of skin problems, and absolutely no improvement on this WOE.

I use to have sinus headaches everyday! But once I stopped eating carbs, or a lot of carbs anyway, I no longer get them.

But for me, all of a sudden I am have eczema outbreaks. They for the most part have been under control since I was a child. Now I get the big red itchy rashes on the back of my neck and chest area. Really, I haven't had to deal with this in years.

That's too bad, Katana.

Are you taking any supplements? I started taking supplements at the same time I started Atkins, so I'm not sure which is responsible for the improvements.

I'm taking: pottasium, calcium/magnesium, chromium, Vit E, D, C, evening primrose and flax seed oil as well as a B complex and a multi.

Maybe you have an allergy to a food you're still eating?

Better breathing is one of the FIRST things I noticed when on low-carb! My nose use to get stuffy and it felt like my body was not getting enough oxygen, UNTILL I started on Atkin's. The only times I get stuffy now are when I eat TOO many eggs, or when I eat the same things over and over. Otherwise, I think one of the great benefits to Atkin's is unbelievable air flow. I guess it was all because the sugar was making my blood sticky or something. Who knows???

Hi Kaillean,
I could be totally wrong on this, but could it also be
limited dairy intake? My husband quit drinking milk
three years ago and he has not had any sinus
infections, phlegm etc.

Just my 2 cents

Right before I went on Atkins I was at the doctor because of my sinuses - he gave me a sample of flonase and a prescription for it and Zurtek (sp) - well I couldn't fill the prescriptions cause of money issues right away so I was holding off. But I haven't needed to get them and the sample bottle still has some in it - only occasionally have I used it now and as an added benefit - I'm no longer waking up to being poked with an elbow cause of my snoring!!

I took two or three allergy medications daily for several years with occasional use of asthma medication. Since I started Atkins, no sinus or breathing problems. Occasionally, the eyes get really itchy, so I use allergy eye drops and take a Claritan.

Smile Yes

Everyone in my office is sneezing and with watery eyes and here I am with no symptoms. for the first time in my two years of low carbing. I think its a combination of three things: low carbing, lots of water, and eating no food allergies.
