Default is it time for OWL?

I've been on induction for a month today and I've lost 11 of the 47 pounds I need to lose. I'm not sure if moving on to OWL is the right thing to do. I still have 36 more pounds to go and I have this fear that if I add more carbs I will lose slower (only lost 1 pound this week). I wonder if I just stuck with 20 carbs but ate a variety of things off of both the induction and OWL lists would it help with the weight loss at all or should I just move on to OWL? Has anyone had these doubts and moved on and lost more or moved on and lost less? Anyone's input is appreciated.

Hi Niko. There's no harm in staying on induction a little longer if you want to, as long as you *do* move through OWL at some point. I think it sounds reasonable for you to start eating some of the OWL foods now, even if you still want to keep the carbs at 20.

BTW, a pound a week is a reasonable rate of weight loss. It's normal for it to slow down after the first two weeks or so.

HTH!

Niko,
I faced the same decision a few months back. I stayed on induction for 2 months and then slowly added in a little more variety - nuts and berries. I still keep my carbs around 20 but with some of the OWL foods added in. Everyone is different so you will need to see what works the best for you. Good luck and happy LCing.

Congrats on your strong start Niko!
I wouldn't be in too big a hurry to move on as you want to form good habits. And as you do move to OWL make it a slow transition.
When you add things in make sure they are as healthy a possible. For instance adding a small amount of berries or some new veggy rather then some frankenfood.
As it turns out I lost about an average of one pound a week when I look back. It was fast at first and then tapered off. If I'd have known that at first I might have been discouraged but now I'm glad as I have learned a whole new way of eating that I can continue forever and which I am totally confident in.
