Default Ok if i can't have peanuts what else can i eat?

I am allergic to tree nuts ( pistachios, cashews, walnuts) and I truly hate almonds and pecans, and cant afford macadamia nuts.

I just read that dry roasted peanuts are bad what about cocktail peanuts? i have been eating sunflower sedds but i need something else. any ideas?

Dry roasted peanuts have nasty additives, the cocktail ones are fine in small amounts... portion control is hard for me! As long as you're out of induction, it's okay.

Roasted soynuts aren't bad, and have roughly the same carbs as peanuts. Our C-Store has various flavors, and I found that the taco flavor are fairly decent.

I am not too exited about Soya .

I love salted roasted Soya nuts .You find them in the bulk section of the grocery store or the health food store.

Why have any period?

Can you eat coconuts, or do they call in with the tree nuts catagory? You can also just get peanuts in the shell from the produce department, or in a bag and shell them to eat, that way you know there's nothing there but nuts.

Cooking with all natural peanut butter could also satisfy any nut cravings. Make peanut butter cups, peanut butter protien bars or a number of things.

Have you tried pumpkin seeds? They are delicious roasted and are acceptable for Atkins.

Macadamia Nuts aren't that expensive if you buy them at the right place.

I'd try Trader Joe's.
(You can also buy 14oz bags at wholesale clubs for ~$6.)

As Hogarth said, you can also try Costco for bulk Macadamia nuts. You can freeze them if I'm not mistaken(they get rancid if kept opened too long ). I am a Pumpkin Seed addict..very good. Cocktail peanuts are fine, the roasted "party" nuts are horrid, and contain sugar! Can you eat Pine nuts?Hazelnuts?

Wait, wait, I read on this forum that cashews are also legumes just like peanuts, wouldn't that mean they are not tree nuts? This actually helps you none anyway because you shouldn't eat cashews, they are high in carbs. Just wondering. I like the unshelled peanuts the work to open them actually causes me to eat less.

Oh and another thing, it's funny that you posted this and I never thought of it before. My fiance has always been allergic to nuts, especially walnuts. But he can eat peanuts and peanut butter. So maybe he is actually allergic to tree nuts. He never got it looked into he just knows he gets very ill when he eats nuts. I will have to mention this to him.

Would anyone happen to have a list of tree nuts?

Petcrazed, is it salt you crave? have you tried the fried pork rinds yet? they're less than 1 gr per 9 pieces, and they're great with dips... check out recipe section for dips.

Petcrazed, have you thought of growing your own macadamia nut tree. I live in ventura county, also on the central coast. They grow really well on the central coast. I am planting one (it will be 10 years before I have many nuts). We had one in our previous house. It was prolific. They are also beautiful trees.
