Talking Hi all!!

Hi!!

I'm a new Lowcarber (as of Tuesday ) and I just want to say hello!

I'm doing the Ultralite program, and finding it good so far, I peed on the ketostick this morning, but there was no change, although I've lost 2.5kg this week (mainly fluid & post festive season excess I guess).

The only problem I have had is a poor concentration & I'm just not thinking clearly - I suppose it will pass ...... Has anyone else had this problem???

Cheers - jaddles

I usually find it takes 3-4 days to get into ketosis. Try again tomorrow and you might find you're there.

You might also find the concentration (I call it brain fog) will go in 3-4 days too. You're probably detoxing and the nasties are rushing around your body waiting to escape. This causes me to get a bit foggy in the brain. It will pass very soon. I've had a few friends get flu-like symptoms during detox ... it depends how toxicated your body is to start off with.

I did the ultra-lite program for a few months last year. I don't use the sachets anymore, or weigh my food, but I'm still low-carbing as a life style. It's brilliant. Good luck with it.

Excellent news! I started again on Tuesday (have been doing maintenance for the last few months), and got into ketosis this morning. I always love to see that stick change colour.

Now to shed those last few kilos that evaded me last year ...

Hi Guys

I am wondering if you can tell me where you bought the ketosis testing strips in Melbourne. I am on Atkins and when I read the part about testing I thought that was to hard.

I have noticed though a change in my breath, though and I am presuming this is Ketosis as I ahve been brushing my teeth about 6 times a day Anyone else exeperience this?

Cheers

My ketostix came with the program, but I think they are pretty common doctor things so would probably be available at a chemist.......

I have noticed my breath isn't the greatest since I've been in ketosis - I think thats pretty common.

Bennejo,

I buy mine in the larger chemists. They usually stock them for diabetics. They're pretty cheap, around $7-10 I think. They're called Ketosticks.

I've bought them in Smith St, Collingwood, and in Barkly Square, Brunswick.

Hmmmmm - I got ripped off. They told me they were selling them wholesale for $15. I wouldn't care except they made a point of telling me they were wholesale.....

Wow! I can't believe you guys are paying so much. I'm going to buy some more this weekend as I'm almost out, so I'll let you know how much I pay. I've had my current ones for a little while, so the price could have gone up, but I think you might be paying a little too much.

They ketosticks must have gone up in the last 6 months. I could have sworn that I only paid $9 last time I bought them. I bought some more last night and they cost me $19! The chemist said that you can get them cheaper if you have a script from the doctor.
