Thumbs up Unexpected encouragement!

A cool thing happened to me today at work. A co-worker out of the blue asked me, a bit hesitantly (I think she might have been afraid of offending me...she's Iranian and sometimes her English is a little broken): "Are you...doing a diet?"

I blinked in surprise...this really caught me off guard. "Why do you ask?"

She smiles and says, pausing to think of the right word, "You look...thinner."

To say I was blown away is really putting it mildly. I don't see a change in myself yet (I've been bad and haven't been tape-measuring myself), but it is VERY nice to know that change is happening and that it is noticeable to others.

What a GREAT encouragement this is! My co-worker really made my day and bolstered my resolve even further to keep up the fight.

Isn't it GREAT when someone else recognizes your effort? (in all things, not just this WOE) I feel that people should just open up and give encouragement more freely. My boyfriend does this for me often. I never realized what an impact it has on confidence and self-esteem when it is genuine. Keep it up!
Tamarian- you've done great yourself!! 64% WOW! That's enough to keep me going when I'm munching on bacon, wishing I had toast to go with it!

I find just the opposite,

I can see many changes in my body-from all the baggy clothes, the wrinkles and the rings getting really loose BUT
my husband says the change is gradual and he sees me every day so its not drastic,,,,

My parents have always been thrilled when my weight was up there because I have a sister who weighs around 300 and they voiced their opinions when I was around 130 that "my sister looks way healthier than you,,,you should gain some weight How's that for support?????oh brother!!

Ya know my hubby says exactly the same thing! I ask him if he can see the difference in the loss of 40 pounds and he answers with that.

He also watches what I eat too. Like when we go out to eat, he say "so what are you going to have" and I name something I know isn't on the diet...he looks at me and says "umm that isn't on your diet you know". I just giggle at him and say I was only kidding. I know he appriecates my effort and does his best to keep me honest.

It is nice when others notice and comment. Congrats Nicky on your lose so far! That is a real boost!
