I was away from home for 8 days for the Thanksgiving holidaze. There were very few high-carb foods that I wanted enough to indulge in them. I did have plenty of alcohol, though. My new smaller clothes still fit just fine, but just the same, I'm waiting a few days before I weigh myself again.....

That icecream sounds delish and definitely easy. I love the Atkins ice cream. Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving.

Well, I did really well on Thursday day. Just a little potatoes and other veggies with both turkey and a little ham, but then I relaxed over at a relatives and definitely drank too many beers (even though they were low carb). We were all enjoying ourselves and I figured it was worth the cheat. Then on Friday, I completely lost all will power. I had a small piece of pecan pie. ate a ton of spaghetti squash and then we ate pizza that night . I haven't had pizza since I started so it was the ultimate cheat. I was so afraid of cheating because I thought I would just go back to the way I was eating before, but I had the strength to go right back to low carb eating on Saturday . I resumed my workouts and patted myself on the back . I don't think I'll be cheating for a while, but it's good to know that I can cheat and not lose the will to obtain my goal. I am on a mission, and I will succeed!!! I'm not weighing in until next Saturday, I do not want to see any damage I may have done, whatever I gained should be gone by then. Onward and downward towards 140 (I'll be ecstatic just to hit 150 :clap.

Jackie S: a little cheating on special ocasions is OK in my humble opinion. I cheated for a week during my wedding and honey moon, two weeks ago: I ate a slice of my wedding cake and then the honey moon was in Japan and I ate all kinds of wierd foods with rice and starches and even sometimes sweet sauces, but of course one has to keep control and I didn't eat deserts of course. The fact is I'll probably never go to Japan again in my whole life so it would be stupid to miss this oportunity to try this other stranage foods.

I think that if you feel you are in TOTAL control you can cheat and also if it's a planned cheat. If you just feel and urge and let yourself go then it's a BAD cheat.

I might be wrong but this is the way I feel it and I think indulging now and then is emotionally healthy.

Cheers,
H.

By the way, the corn bread is quite good. Doesn't raise much but tastes good and smells like the real thing when is cooking. Most LC products I've tried ( hubby is always buying new ones) are really BAD!

Atkins corn bread is good and also Ketogenics muffins are good. All the rest is not worth the money in my humble opinion.

Cheers,
H.

I bought the muffins but I haven't made them yet, maybe I'll do that tonight. Yes, now I realize cheating once in a while is not harmful. I guess I was thinking how I use to be, once I would cheat on other diets, I would just give in. But now for some reason (maybe it's cuz I feel so good) I don't want to give up.
That's great that you went to Japan for your honeymoon. And yes, that would definitely be a time when you would have to experience things to the fullest, including the food. Afterall, Atkins doesn't completely rule out foods,(except for high carb/sugar deserts) you just have to eat in moderation and make good choices most of the time.
I wish there was an easier way to consume the necessary amount of water though, some days I just cannot drink 8 glasses.
I'll have to try the cornbread, the Atkins pasta was terrible!!! The cereal is not bad, it has a real sweet taste to it.

Slow month for me too. I seem to be stuck at 145 but I was stuck 149 when we started this challenge so I know I am going in the right direction.

The weight loss doesn’t have to be quick; I will eat this way for the rest of my life. I know my body needs time to adjust and there is nothing healthy I can do about it. I can’t help to feel a little disappointed that I won’t weight under 140 lbs for Christmas but there will be a Christmas next year and I know that by then, I will be a lot thinner. I just try to focus long term…

I just checked myself, and I am 149.

Considering that for a few days I have been drinking 6 Miller Lites a night, I think that number is pretty good. My father died this week, and I have had many liquid dinners. But I may have real food, like a taco salad, tonight.

P.S. If anyone asks, no you should not have 6 Miller Lites a night on the Atkins plan. That is not in the book. LOL

Colleen1: sorry to hear about your father, my condolences.

hellraise: I never got to say it so congrats on the wedding, hope things are great with you and the DH, it must have been nice to take a vacation in Japan!!

Jackie S: I gave up on low carb specialty foods....good luck to you with that.

as for me, I'm down to 147 (or 148 this morning ...grrr... I think it's just like this for a few days)

I'm still hoping to get to my christmas goal 140-145 and I think I will, I dropped down to 146 a few days ago, so at least it's on it's way down.

And I started skin rubbing and using natural coca cream...hope it improves the skin...

good luck to you all,
-mildwild

Colleen1: My condolences on the loss of your father. You do what you need to do to get through this difficult time, I'm sure you can bounce back to the lifestyle when things calm down. At least the Miller Lites are the lowest carb choice for beers (I think). You should definitely try to eat some protein to keep up your strength though. You have had incredible success, you are a true inspiration to me-Thanks

CalicoCat: I totally agree with you. Reading your words I could hear my own voice in my head. Fom another 145 stuck LCber.

Colleen1: hang in there...

mildwild: moisturizing is really important or you end up with too much skin hehehe

Cheers,
H.

This countdown thing sounds motivating!!! Mind if I join in??? I'm also preparing for my wedding...congrats hellraiser! When is the big day? I don't have to go shopping for my wedding gown until Sept. 2004, so I want to lose a significant amount of weight by then. This is the umteenth time I've started Atkins. The longest I've stuck to the program is 11 days. I became discouraged after getting on the scale after the 11th day and didn't see a loss. Now I started back on it today at 170.5. Wish me luck. I need some inspiration, motivation and some friends to cheer me on.
