although i am new here and havent posted much i have read a TON of posts and i just wanted to reply to the person who said a lot of people are here not just about weight. she, for example, had cholesterol problems and was aiming for 110 pounds. well, my question is, how does one know that his/her cholesterol and tryglyceride level will be better and 110 than at 111??? why put the number there??? why not stop when your levels are at the correct place than when you lose that last stubborn pound or 2 or 5????

Hi, Eve, I think you're referring to me. I entered my weight (original and goal) because I did have a few pounds to lose, and wanted to be honest about that. But my MAJOR reason for low carbing is my blood lipid problem. If I hadn't been prompted by the profile form to enter a weight (it says that the field is required), I might not have done so.

My weight, whether high or low or in between, is not the cause of my lipid problems, which are hereditary. I didn't mean to suggest that I was aiming for 110 pounds in order to lower my cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The weight goal is a totally separate--and in my case, relatively minor--thing. That I've lost a few pounds on this WOE is good, because I was a few pounds overweight. But that I've been able to dramatically lower my LDL and triglyceride readings and dramatically raise my HDL while low carbing is sensational, and keeping them at this improved level is my reason for staying on this WOE.

My initial reason to LC wasn't weight. I suffer from PCOS so I figured that LC was the way to go for me! Then the weight loss happened too.
