Yes, LadyBelle. I think that's exactly the reason why many of us reacted in the first place. I really can't see how "i just reinducted myself and i'm having a hard time keeping my cals low" (stated by honeybfly elsewhere on this board yesterday) and missing TOM will enhance her health at this level. This sounds like too much straining for such a petite body, to me. "Snacking between meals or not", seemed like a tad bit less urgent a matter to address under the circumstances. Hence my concern. But, that's just my opinion and we are all different in our approach on things.

Nevertheless, I will now butt out of this discussion.

gilibel,
i reinducted myself because my cravings were out of
control and so was my calorie intake (1500-1800) due
to past binges.

oh dear.....

LadyBelle is right in saying that this board is not only for folk who wish to lose weight. We support and encourage anyone who wishes to follow the low carb way of life.

However, that does not mean we will encourage seriously underweight people to lose weight.

And when we see underweight members, many of us, out of concern for their health, try to encourage them to eat more.

For example, it is disturbing to me to see Honeybfly, who is definitely underweight to a point where her health could be threatened, worrying that a calorie intake of 1500 to 1800 is "out of control."

Honey, for you to just maintain your weight, 1800 calories is nowhere near too much. Please consider eating a little more.

rosebud,
my usual calorie intake would be 1400...and that to me
is very festive already. and i dont feel like im restricting
my cals on that number either. and at 1800 i would
get really stuffed w/c is one of the main reasons
why i tried atkins in the first place, to have control over
my eating habits. and when i say "control over my eating
habits" im not just talkin about the foods that are high in
carbs...im talking about food in general.
anyways thank you rosebud for your concern, ill try my
best to eat more!

Honey, I'd be a whole lot happier if you were to eat at maintenance levels, rather than feel you need to do Induction.

I hate to say this, but obssessing this way about a calorie count that would be healthy for you (1500 to 1800) is a classic example of ED behaviour.

I have to agree with Rosebud here..should you not be gradually increasing your calorie intake now that you are at goal? If you remain at this level your metabolism will never correct itself....and you will end up like me at 63, stuck at 156 lbs and unable to lose due to total turtle metabolism. This is partly due to always being on such low calories to keep weight off during my youth rather than exercising.

Have you worked out your resting Metabolism rate, taking into account your exercise, weight, height and so on? It sounds like you might be eating below that..if so, it will lower your BMR and you will later regret having done this hugely.

Glad to hear the techniques are working re your 'food thoughts' while studying problem.

But take note, (psych's hat back on here), continued preoccupation with lower calorie levels at your weight is a sign that you are still acting like what is called a restrained eater and this means that you have a ways to go yet in terms of freeing yourself from a dieter's mentality. Take a look at the journals of some of the women who work out a lot on the exercise forums..you will see there are quite a few at goal weight who are consuming much more than you are.

[QUOTE=Frederick]Hi Honeybfly,

Ah, have you ever considered studying less, and just rely on
lecture notes? LOL

haha i cant just do that because i tend to daydream while im in
class LMAO. actually no...i read my books ahead of time so i
know what my proffesor is talkin bout. oh yea and about the
oranges...ARE U KIDDIN ME??? im just not a very fruity person
lol

rosebud/valewis,
the normal calorie intake for me is really 1400 even when i
wasnt on a diet of some sort. i just feel uncomfortable if i eat
too much because i would feel so stuffed or even nappy. what
im sayin is, on some days when i dont feel like eating too much
should i force my self??? even if i feel stuffed at 1400? i think dr.
atkins has mentioned this one on his website: "Adjust the
quantity you eat to suit your appetite, especially as it decreases.
When you're hungry, eat the amount that makes you feel satis-
fied, but NOT STUFFED."

I know nothing about all of these ED claims honestly..I think I have/had one but it was overeating. But I do know that I have 1400 and 1600 calorie days every now and then too... I aim for 2000 minimum because my weight is so high and I want to take care of my body but I guess to me it seems easy to imagine only eating 1400 or so on a daily basis if I were 100 pounds...lol not that I could ever be but you know what I mean...

anyway I guess I would like to trust this girl to KNOW if she is getting sick from not eating...chances are if it IS an ED then she'll be hospitalized soon, right? I dont know!

Take care of yourself girly! Can we see a picture of the real YOU?

Sadly, most people with eating disorders deny the fact to everyone, often including themselves.

So many people die or have serious, long term consequences to their health from eating disorders that I am not about to stop trying to help if I see ED type behaviour. And I also worry when I see people reassuring these folk that all is well. All is not well when a seriously underweight person continues to try to lose weight.
