Please do not be afraid to excercise because you are afraid you are going to gain weight due to muscle increase!
Lean muscle mass is your friend! The more you have, the higher your metabolism is!
If at the end of a month of excercise you have "gained" 5lbs according to the scales, but have lost a inch from your waist, that is great! You are reducing your overall body fat percentage which is the only thing that is important.
My advice, lose the scales for a while and hit the gym.
