At our office it's not donuts but what they did today---made a huge bag of buttered popcorn. I swear the smell lingers for hours. I had to have two large handfuls. I'm sure I'll pay by retaining water but oh well.

I have a solution for the donut problem, but it may not work for anyone else. My first job was in a donut shop, and I got to eat my fill of donuts every day for all the months I worked there. I have already eaten my lifetime of donuts, so I do not want them now. Ever. Funny, that was pre-marriage and kids, when I was a skinny thing who thought I was fat at 120!

Good luck avoiding the temptation! I know it's hard when it's a food you like. Just think how much of your hard work will be un-done if you cave in. Don't do it!

I know what you mean. I went shopping this morning and the free sample right by the door was triple chocolate cream cake. I was hungry at the tim etoo.

I resisted though and instead went to the clothing section and reveled in being a smaller size.

I hate those little bowls of candy people leave out, the plates of cookies, or boxes of donuts and muffins. I can usually talk myself out of things though.

Instead of thinking of how good one would be, stand back and look at them more objectivly. They would probably taste too overpoweringly sweet to where you wouldn't enjoy them. If you have sensative teeth you would get a sore mouth, and on top of everything a sore tummy after.

There is a recipe on here and on lowcarbluxury for LC donuts that use vanilla protien powder. I tried a soy version I didn't like, but the vanilla ones look extreamly good. Just remind yourself that what ever your looking at you can make a much better tasting and healthier version at home. Home made doesn't have all the chemical addatives, hidden ingredients, or staleness from sitting in a case for heaven knows how long.

If someone brings something to the office that is high-carb, such as doughnuts, I simply take one, say thank you then go into my office and throw it into the trash.

Okay, fess up. How many of us would fish that sucker back out of a waste paper basket within 30 minutes? You would need to throw it in a can with REAL garbage.....

The tradition at our school is treats at break every Friday. We group ourselves and sign up for (usually) 4 Fridays to bring them. Well, most of the time I can't eat much (if anything) that's brought in--100% carb-laden sweets and savories. So, the last time my group brought the munchies, I made dozens of chicken wings! They disappeared so quickly, and to so many raves, that we've decided that next month (our next treat day) we're going to do a wing-ding. Low carbers paradise--wings of many different flavors with the standard sides of celery stalks (and other vegetables) and blue cheese dressing! Now THAT'S a Friday to look forward to!

The funniest part of this whole Friday snack time is---OTHER groups have started to bring in low carb goodies, too!

I copied this from Natrushka in the recipe section in this forum. It's quick and very easy and soooo delish you'll make it all the time.

Mock Danish

2 oz cream cheese (soften in microwave)
1 egg
1 tblspn splenda
1 tsp lemon concentrate
1/2 tsp vanilla

mix softened cream cheese and egg. Add remaining ingredients. microwave on high for 2 minutes.

I added some 50 fifty jam in the centre before nuking... delicious.

* it tastes better if you don't totally mix the egg and cream cheese; you get little pockets of crm cheese.

Default You think having donuts at work is bad....

Sometimes people bring them to my Jazzercize class. That drives me crazy. They were giving away Cracker Jack yesterday, (National Cracker Jack day) and of course, I won. Took the prize and thanked them then gave it to my kids. I work too hard at Jazzercize to screw up on some food that isn't my favorite anyway.

Donuts at jazzercise..is that illegal? haha

About 5 yrs ago I was on WW and the meeting location was surrounded by Baskin Robins, McDonalds, Mrs. Fields, etc. Thats totally messed up..I think its a marketing ploy though..you stay fat and keep coming back for the meetings! haha

Jude-I think a wing-ding is great. I may try that at work sometime along with some celery and dip. Great idea!

Our office gets flooded with goodies from clients this time of year, some of which look luscious.
A friend of mine was doing the "aw, go on, it will make you feel good."
I said, "Yes, for about ten minutes. But this," and I slapped my butt "feels good 24 hours a day." And I did a little dance.
She laughed so hard I had to do it for someone else. No one gives me a hard time, it's just the "do this naughty thing with me so I won't be doing it alone" impulse.

mandra,

That is exactly what I thought when I read about the doughnut in the trash can. I can imagine the smell of it just wafting up to your nose. Hehe

At first I would say "No thank you, I can't eat that.." and then I would be required to explain. Now I just take the sugar suff and dunk it into the waste basket. That saves the trouble of explaining. And no, I have never take food out of the waste basket after that point Often time I just don't feel like having a donut or a bagel.
