I want to say I agree with everybody.

Maybe fishburg really can't have any high carb.

It really seems what we can handle, and how we can stay under control.

And there are low carb things that I also have to be careful of, because they don't give me a "satiety" (an "I'm done") response. i.e., peanut butter.

And this week I've learned that I can't have deluxe mixed nuts in the house - or its a tough time for DH.

I would say YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO DRINK OR NOT TO DRINK TO SMOKE OR NOT TO SMOKE! If your goal is to eliminate both and you CHOOSE to have a drink or smoke don't beat yourself up over it and move on towards your goal.

I couldn't agree more with the views you've espoused here.

I've always been perplexed why people seem to be so completely fixated and compulsive on a milligram of carbs, but seemingly without any concern what so ever over physical activity.

Rationally speaking, if one takes control of the energy expenditure side of this equation, then whatever carbs we might happen to "cheat" on will have absolutely no effect.

So, why not once in a blue moon enjoy that REAL sugared ice cream or REAL sugared chocolate cake, but pay for it with some excercise the next morning? In the end, isn't that both easier and more conducive to longterm happiness and harmony than opting for, in my view, the unrealistic expectations of lifetime abstinence?

Regards,

Frederick

personally i don't care for the term 'cheat' or 'planned cheat'. to my way of thinking it's a 'choice' what you eat or don't eat. if the 'choice' you make feels wrong learn all you can on how to make better choices. this board is full of good info to help with that.
