Yes Mz Terry I know I need to post my workouts but I don't know what everything is called. But Friday we worked on legs at the gym and Monday we worked on chest and tri's? (Hope I'm right) w/some ab work.

Let me tell U...that gym was totally intimating. But I think that it was good that I'm doing something out of my comfort zone. Its nice to say that I actually have a hobby now....lifting...woo hoo. My only hobby in the last 8 years has been my computer then replaced by my kids...but still find some time for my computer.

I'm not sure yet how many months it will take to see results but I'm just excited to have the ball rolling. I think Curves was a great stepping stone to weight lifting so I'm very proud of the year I devoted to attending Curves. Shows me I have perserverance.

BTW...my trainer...Terry....looked better than a lot of men there...and definitely better than any other women. I'm so proud of her.

Okay...off to work!

Hey there girlfriend! Glad to see you're feeling ready to make the switch to lifting. I think Curves was an excellent place for you to have started - you made some great progress and got your body used to moving - excellent preparation for some more focussed workouts now.

I'll be very interested to see how Terry has you training and eating over the coming months.

Hey there

What kind of protein will you be taking? If it's whey, be careful - for many low-carbers, whey glycolyzes so fast we get an insulin response from it. I've pretty much switched to cottage cheese because of this (casein protein metabolizes more slowly).

I like to get in about .9g of protein per pound of body weight, and that seems to work well while low-carbing. If I'm doing lower fat, this rises to about 1.5g per pound of body weight. But still, I tend to avoid whey except for maybe half an hour before lifting (but still, cottage cheese after).

Carbs? Everybody is different. I wouldn't even bother until you're only about 10 pounds or less away from your target, but you're free to fiddle with it - you can always try them and drop them if you get fat spillover. You'll have to experiment with slower vs faster carbs and different amounts and timings of them. There's a TREMENDOUS amount of variety here in terms of what different bodies respond to and tolerate. Even the TIMING is a factor - I can't have carbs for breakfast, or I'm screwed. Others like steel cut oats with protein for breakfast. You'll just have to try different strategies to find the ones that work for you.

Clear as mud?

Good luck, and ask away if you get stuck with something, although you have Terry training you, so I'm sure you're in good hands.

Hi there

I'm tapering off them for a bit right now, but when I'm doing the full load, I take my first mini-stack when I wake up, then one at coffee, then at lunch, then at second coffee, then before I train. Each one is 16mg E and 100 mg C, so I'm getting in the equivalent of 4-5 cups of strong coffee and 80mg ephedrine over the course of the day. When I taper off, I sometimes just take the caffeine, or take all the caffeine and half the E, or take 3 mini stacks instead of 5...

You don't HAVE to taper off, but I don't like feeling tired for a few days until I get used to it. This way is easier.

I taper ON, and I taper OFF. I think it's probably easier on your body in general to do it this way.
