Question Red Wine?

So what's the deal with red wine? I looked at FitDay and for one glass (3.5oz) it says 1.206g carbs. Should I go by that? I am going to a party tomorrow night and I really do not like that ultra light beer(new Michelob Ultra??)

Default liquor is quicker

Vodka/ rum/ etc. has no carbs. Just watch the mixers.

I went out for dinner and had a grilled chicken caesar salad and two glasses of wine (merlot). So I was okay drinking the wine (other than feeling drunk as a skunk)? I felt really guilty about it.

I can't drink anything anymore - even 1 glass of wine makes me drunk.

The problem for me in drinking is that it kills my judgement. Saturday night I had alot of vodka/diet tonics. Well, that was it. Got into all sorts of trouble including a 4AM burger (and fries and shake) run.

Did have fun though

Default Wine

According to the Atkins book
White wine has far less carbs per glass:
.8 per 3 1/2 oz.
red is generally 1.8, a dry dessert wine is 4.2
Depending on how sweet your red is the carb count could climb to 11 !!

So these are guidelines, as well as the measurement-most wine glasses would look pretty empty at 3.5 oz !

After induction it is ok to drink once and a while, but it would be good to get used to a straight spirit- gin vodka scotch etc. mixed with a non carb beverage then it is 0 carbs.

This Irish girl who used to down a half a bottle of tequila gets loaded on two glasses of wine. Puts me right to bed.

I'd also like to second the person above who said that alcohol messes up her judgement. Same here!!! It's like....in goes the alcohol...OUT GOES THE CONSCIENCE!!! "Give me some fries and ice cream right now!!!"

I've been in training in my lab (aka kitchen). I actually measure out 4 oz of wine. If you drink it slowly it will seriously kick in. I CAN stop at 4oz now since I know the buzz is on its way. I am also better able to gauge 4oz when at a restaurant. I find MUCH more pleasure in sipping some delicious red wine over having vodka and water. But, then again, I love wine.
