Default Questions for Nat on supplements, BFL

Hi, I have been reading your posts and stickeys and am learning alot.
I am hypothyroid and read your post on glutamine. I tried taking that in between meals to quell sugar cravings but it didn't seem to help (500-1000).How do you take this and is it appropriate for someone with thyroid concerns? Also, I have been doing Atkins but have lost nothing pounds wise, only an inch or two and I think that's mainly from exercise. I think I am scared to do anything that involves raising carb levels .
Also, I have been looking at doing BFL but would have to do it at home. I just started doing some of Joyce Vedral's weight training videos-I like the fact that she's in her 50s as am I, instead of trying to follow all these '6 pack' people that I will never look like. I have weights from 2-10 lbs, would need to add in some 12s and 15s. I have some joint and bursitis issues(shoulder, trochanter calcification, hip area) and would appreciate any tips on working out with these conditions, especially doing flyes.
Thank you and thanks for all the research you have shared!
Elaine

I think Nat is away for a while too.

I didn't find l-glutamine to help me much with cravings. The supplement that does help me is Chromium. I take one in the morning and sometimes one at night.

I'm not sure about exercising with joint issues. I just made flyes a bigger part of my workout on Monday and I was still feeling it on Thursday. Taking L-glutamine after a workout is helpful in reducing the pain, but a new routine does take some getting used to.

I do BFL at home and got a weight set of adjustable dumb bells at Walmart for $20.

I'll check back later and see if I can help some more.

Beth
