Default How long from mouth to fat?

Hi everyone,
I have a question, probably a stupid question, but I will ask it anyway. If I add a new food to my diet, and want to see what that food does to my body (weight, bloating...) how long do I wait? The next day? I read that digestion can take up to 72 hours, do I have to wait that long to make a connection?

When you go on the scale and see that you gained, do you look at what you ate yesterday? or the day before that?

I don't know if I am clear... I am just trying to find out what doesn't agree with me in my diet, I always had trouble with my intestines... after two weeks on induction everything was GONE, a wonderfully flat and pain free tummy! Then I moved on to OWL (for 1 week) gained 1 pounds and had intestinal problems again... So I have cut all the stuff I added since going on OWL (nuts, soy and yogurt) going back to induction food but with 25g carbs/daily... gained two more pounds and nothing has changed yet as far as my bloating , it's been two days... am I impatient?

any tip would be great
Zab

Okay, let me think. You just started OWL, but with the addition of nuts, soy, and yogurt, you've found a culprit that has caused stomach upset and bloating. Do I have this right?

Now, first of all, I wouldn't take the weight as anything but water. I doubt that you actually gained fat. The trick is finding what caused your retention. Drink lots of water and I'm confident that the bloating will go down. I see fluctuations in my scaled CONSTANTLY and there are so many factors that go into it. I prefer the tape measure and pant-o-meter when it comes to these things.

But on to the tummy upset. It seems what you did is good, to cut out all new things right away. Now, maybe try adding just one of those groups in for a week. Eat it three or so times next week and see what happens. Take induction menus you felt great on and just add an ounce of nuts one week. Then, if you feel fine, try a different group to identify the offender. Like a science experiement, no?

Nuts, soy, and yogurt could all be allergens, so I wouldn't want to make a guess at which it might be. Do some detective work, start listening to your body, and I hope you figure it out. We want you to be tummy happy!

Good luck.

I find the same problem of bloating and tummy upset when I eat peanuts. It's funny that macadamia nuts don't bother me, but I have a real hard time with peanuts.

I think you're wise to cut out all the extras and then add them back one at a time. You may discover that you don't have as much trouble if you add them in slowly.

thank you guys for the fast replies

I see this as an opportunity to finally find out what has been giving me trouble all this time... I will be patient and add them one at a time, one week each...

peanuts ... I hope that's not it... I'm such a peanut butter fan!

Well better a pain-free life without peanuts, then a life eating some and looking like one big bloated one
