Question Ketostix shows color, but SLOOOWWW

Hi! I need advice. I have been on induction 4 weeks now, keto stix have always shown color, yet pounds are sooooo sloooowwwwww! Very frustrated. I am insulin resistant- is that problem that strong? I know I have lost inches, but shouldn't the scale show it?

Allie, I am right there with you! I have been on Atkins for about 4 weeks also, and am always in ketosis, but the pounds are coming off much slower than I thought I would, and it's really hard not to get discouraged. Coming to this forum really helps alot.

I guess I'm a slow loser, and it can be so frustrating. I see other people who's weight just seems to peel off, and here I am following the plan and getting in exercise and still it's SLOW for me. However, I have started Curves, and exercise program that combines resistance training and cardio, so I could be building muscle, which should show up in losing inches but could slow losing the pounds.

Could something like this be happening to you? I can tell you my clothes are starting to feel loser even though I haven't re-measured myself recently.

The key is to hang in there. Don't give up! Make sure you are getting enough water.

I'm sure you'll get lots of great advice from the people here, they're great!

Unhappy

It is frustrating when weight takes (what seems like) forever to come off. Especially when you hear people that started after you lose so much more than you have For some of us, it just takes a bit longer. I myself was hoping to reach goal by December 25th but that did not happen. I can tell you that since committing to exercising 4X a week, the inches and pounds are dropping a bit faster now. Maybe that is what you need. Good luck.

Smile where you get your veggies

I noticed my weight stalls if I don't get the majority of my carbs from my veggies or if I eat to much sugarless candy....even if it nets to really low carb. Increase your veggies a bit and lower the fat content and see if that helps...

All I can offer is my standard slow loss response and tell you that I love this WOL:

This is not a fast weightloss diet this is a healthy way to eat everyday whenever you are hungry and to be satisfied while SLOWLY get to your goal weight.

The slowly teaches you to eat right and patience so this time you keep it off. You will not lose weight everyday. Your body will get into natural stalls where it needs to catch up with the weight it has lost. It is good to take measurements now because usually in a stall (4 weeks of no weightloss) you usually are still losing inches.

Realistic weightloss expectations are 10% of your goal of weight to lose is usually lost during induction then 5% of the remaining weight to lose approx every month.

Gosh you guys. The sticks aren't very accurate and there are so many variables so don't worry about them.

FYI - pink or purple is still secreting ketones. It is like saying you are only a little bit pregnant. Get it???

Be more aware of ketosis symptoms because that is a much better indicator.

- cravings and hunger are much more in your control
- breath, sweat, urine have unique odor

Exclamation Breath

My breath is how the entire planet knows I am in ketosis.

Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
My cat sniffs me like I am compteting for territory or something. Others may not be saying anything but anyone who loves me remarks on its hellishness.
I cant listerine all day.
BO is under control [I think !] and urine is equally vile.
I hate parsley.

Unhappy odors

The odor is hard to live with. Has anyone tried cholorphyll tablets? Gosh what good does it do to lose weight and then smell bad? I'm still feel self conscious. Does this last forever?

Thanks for letting me share.

You can get ketosis sticks at a pharmacy. If they don't have them on the shelf, ask a clerk because at my pharmacy they had them on a shelf behind the counter.

Things good for bad breath...
Tongue scraper
those little Listerine strips
