Question Confused about 10%

After reading many posts, I am confused about the 10% we want to achieve while doing Induction. And it is to your advantage to stay on Induction til you lose that much.

10% of what?

I have found 3 different opinions of the10%.

10% of your starting weight
10% of what you need to lose
10% of your goal weight

So, which is it?

I do know at WW it was 10% of what your starting weight was.

Thank you.

You know that is an excellent question! I have assumed it was 10% of your starting weight, but maybe I've been wrong. Also, I am a slow loser, and I have found out through posts on this forum that the 10% is not a hard and fast rule and you are NOT failing if you don't reach this during induction.

Remember, everyone is different. I believe being persistant and consistent are the keys. Hang in there and it WILL work!

Rule of thumb is that you can expect to lose 10% of the amount you want to lose during induction and 5% per month thereafter. However, in chapter 13 of the New Diet Revolution, Dr. Atkins states that the weight loss for a woman who wishes to lose more than 50 lbs will range from 4 lbs for someone with high metabolic resistance to 12 pounds for someone with low metabolic resistance. Keep in mind that your goal weight may be lower than your ideal body weight, too. Basically, if you lose 8 - 10 lbs during induction you're doing well. Anything more than that, you're doing really well!
