Default What is ketone breath?

I've seen several posts on what to do about ketone breath.
My question is, "What is it?"
When I first started Atkins, my husband mentioned that my breath smelled "sweet" like I needed to eat something, but nothing else since then. I've even asked him if I have had bad or funny smelling breath--he says no.
So how will I know if I get it?
I don't want to offend anyone.

Default Funk !

Funk Funk Funk. That is what ketone breath is. Some say it smells sweet. I say it smells funky. Just be happy you don't have it. My husband smells it and tries to act as if he didn't. I notice and ask him is it my breath? He tries to avoid the question.
Funky Yuk Mouth is what it is.

I've heard alot about it as well....some folks report ketone breath, ketone sweat and ketone pee.

I'm not sure I've ever experienced the first two, but I'm well-acquainted with the third! I guess this is just the wonderful little olefactory gift nature gives us for expelling ketones.

I do try to keep "legal" breath mints at the ready and use a good scrub for my body to try to avoid the first two. I keep asking my BF if he notices anything and he says no. I've made him promise me if he does because I'd rather find out from him than start to notice everyone backing up a few steps everytime I talk to them!

Since I've been LCing I have been flossing twice a day after lunch and dinner. I always seem to get meat stuck between my teeth. OUCH!
Before that I only flossed once or twice a week. Maybe that is helping to keep away the ketone breath?

Exercising reduces ketone breath because a portion of ketones are used for energy and expelled as sweat.

I had it during induction but no longer seem to get the complaints from the family of dragon breath. I drank more and used thera breath to get rid of it when it was at it's peak.

I smelled the ketone sweat for the first time today. Wooo
And my mouth TASTES weird...but I'm not sure it smells funky yet.

This is a good sign, right?
