Default DR Atkins Chocolate bar YUM!

I bought a Dr Atkins chocolate bar today and it was so good! I think this would be a great thing to have around if you ever have a chocolate craving. Tastes just like chocolate to me. Only 2grams carb.

It's my duty to mention that these chocolate bars contain sugar alcohols. They are said to not effect blood sugar, but they do in some individuals. Also, use these products in moderation due to laxative effects caused by maltitol, lactitol, sorbitol, etc. You can find out more about these sweeteners by clicking a link to your right entitled: The truth about low-carb sweeteners.

But I agree: Those chocolates are a good treat once in a while!

Oh great I just read about the sugar alcohols. I guess I will be staying near the toilet for awhile. Maybe not such a great idea for a treat after all.

Oh Deb! Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news. It doesn't affect all people that way all the time, so maybe you're a lucky one! I usually only feel upset by them when I eat waaay too much.

I tried the Atkins peanut butter cups. They weren't too bad, but I was also worried after reading up on sugar alcohols. There's a terrific recipe in the "Sweet Treats" forum for pb cups. They're really easy to make & are much better than any store bought version. There are other chocolate recipes over there too. If you're having a craving, I'd recommend checking out the recipes forum.

Those sugar alchohols don't have any negative effect on me at all. ( other than contributing calories that I probably don't need), but a lot of people sure do report tummy troubles.

I just had half of a chocolate peanut endulge bar. Yummmmmmm! The peanuts take a lot of the frankenfood flavor away.

I get an upset stomach when I eat a whole one (even though they're the tiny ones). But half a bar, taken with my meal, is fine.

YAY. The atkins bars have no ill affects on me either. It is the "other brands" that do wonders to my stomach. I like the peanut butter cups and the chocolate. Yummy.

Thumbs up Peanut butter cups

Those bad fellas are pretty good. I eat only one at a time and per day. I never have more than one cup a day. I want to not want so much sweets.

Default maybe stalling?

I read that someone wrote that the Atkins bars stalls the weight loss in some people also. I have been wondering why I seem to have leveled off in the last month or so - and am thinking it might be those stinkin' bars.

I am going to go 2 weeks without having one, and see if that makes a difference. It will definitely make a difference in my wallet anyway - at approx. $2 each, they are not cheap!

Default Atkins Bar $$ and Wal Mart!

Wal Mart in my town has started carrying the Atkins bars for .96 cents each! People are grabbing them as quickly as they can put them on the shelf. I was paying $2.00 at a low carb store!

The low carb candy bars with Maltitol are great, but they definitely stalled my weight loss. I find them very addicting. At first i would have just one every few days. Then one a day. Now if i have one , i have 5 that day. I have to just try to stay away from them. I haven't lost any weight since January. It is the sugar alcohol, your body burns it instead of your fat. Time to quit those bars for me. Kim

Question

IF the Walmart carries these items, in what department/aisle/ section are they found?
