Question For Women Only- Question re: that time of month

Hi ladies,

I'm curious if it is just extremely common to stall (or even put back on a pound or two) right before and/or during that time of month. I was doing SO WELL about a week ago (losing about .5 every other day by re-doing a mostly strict induction again).... then late last week, out of the blue, BAM! I gained a pound overnight, then another 1/2 pound the next day. Very frustrating-- considering my period wasn't due for about a week (would the stall and/or weight gain begin that early?). But I am working very hard at keeping my induction regimen, drinking lots of water, and hoping it all "pays off" after my period is gone (haven't started yet, but am due on Tuesday or so).

Any thoughts on this are welcomed. I've read/heard that a woman's period can affect stalling and slight weight gain. But I wanted to hear from as many women as possible to get the scoop. Also, after the period is over, do you usually experience a "whoosh" if you stuck with it during the process and didn't fall off the wagon?

TIA for your thoughts.

Jill in Phoenix, AZ

I've noticed that the weight does seem to come off again after your system settles down. I think alot of the weight gain is water retention that always occur before tom. A week and a little bit early wouldn't surprise me.

Yep, I start retaining water about a week ahead too. Usually part way through the menstrual cycle I start to loose the water my body has held onto.

I always gain 10 pounds the week before my period, and about 3 days into my period lose it all. I feel bloated and yuckie this whole time. I didn't always have this problem, but it sure started to get worse the last 2 or 3 years.

I'm soooo relieved!!! I just started induction a couple of days before my period started and lost a pound a day until it did start. Then got back on the scale and had gained three back...all in one day. I was so frustrated and depressed thinking I'd done something wrong or ate too many carbs by mistake.

I'm on my final days of my period now and the scale has gone back down to the weight I was before. I'm going to start drinking more water and start exercising for my second week of induction to get the scale moving again.
