Default Increased risk of breast and/or ovarian cancer?

I just started doing Atkins 5 days ago, and have some concerns that I cannot seem to get an answer to. With the increased intake of fats, is the risk of getting breast and/or ovarian cancer increased? This is a big concern for me. Eating like this seems so against everything I have been taught. I have never liked eating meats and/or eggs, and now I am told it is the way to go to get healthy and slim. Yesterday I almost gagged having to eat some meat yet again.

One more question: my heart seems to pound WAY more than usual. Have others experienced this? Sometimes I can feel it pounding in my throat. I have never experienced anything like it.

I am a serious carbohydrate junkie. I love cake, candies, chocolate, breads and pastries. Now that I am on Atkins though, the one thing I miss the most is fruit and yogurt.

HI there is an older thread in this forum that has a link to the Harvard nurses study that says it didnt cause a higer incidence of breast cancer.

Dont know about the heartbeat-when I gave up coffee caffeine I kind of did something like that. It was funny that the only non caloric thing I did gave me the most problems. The first few days of induction did make me dizzy and discombobulated(thats a technical medical term) ANyway hang in there the rewards are great.

Yogurt comes back into your diet later so plan to have it in a few weeks( you have to use full fat and flavor it- it can be really good.

For now use cream cheese in sf jello its creamy /fruity and yummy

Actually the risk is decreased.

Have a look at this article which describes how cancers feed off sugar.

As for missing yoghurt and fruit, did you know that there are some plans that permit those things? I would suggest choosing a plan that you think you can live with long term. The weight loss may be a little slower than on Atkins, but you'll be more likely to keep to a plan that you feel more comfortable with.
Have a look through "Which low carb plan is right for me?" to the right of the screen. And you can always get books out from the library before buying, rather then spend a lot of money on lots of books.

All the best to you, Laika!
