Question Coincidence or a whoosh?

I had been stalled for 3 weeks, even dropped cheese and dietrite the last week trying to get started again. Then on Saturday I was so hungry all day that I ate alot more than usual, even had cheese, pepperoni and soda in the evening. Usually I eat between 2100 and 2700 calories a day but was well over 3000 on Saturday. Would you believe Monday morning I lost a lb. and today, another? What do you guys think, was it just the end of the post-induction stall or did I perk my system eating more one day? Regardless I'm pleased to be finally counting backward again.

WHO CARES? YOU'RE LOSING AGAIN!!!

No, seriously, that is great that you are losing. I would bet on its being the end of the post-Induction stall. However I have often noticed that on the day before I lost some weight, I was ravenously hungry just as you were. so as long as I eat meat & LC veggies, I still lose the next day.

Congratulations.

I think it is probably the end of the post-induction stall.

Like Tofi, I am often very hungry the day before I drop a pound. I can go for a week with very little appetite and without losing any weight, then suddenly get hungry, eat a lot, and lose a pound. It doesn't make sense, but that is the way it is. However, forcing myself to eat more on days I don't want to does not cause me to drop weight. I have learned to listen to my body and to do what it wants.

Default I just read this in my psychology book

I find this fascinating. There is a set point theory which says we are "set" to maintain a particular weight. Those of us who have tried to either lose by dieting or gain weight by eating more has experienced resisitance from the the body. When your body establishes a consistant weight for a length of time, it sets itself for that weight. When you lose weight and your weight drops below the set point our bodies will turn up the thermostat
( hunger ) in an effort return you to that set weight. The body will react by reducing your metabolism and trigger hunger for the sole purpose of regaining that " natural weight ."

That hunger is a definite sign that you are about to lose weight and your body is just defending itself against the inevitable .

Thanks for the insight. I really like the psychological point of view. It does make sense. Lost another pound this morning. Yeah!!!

So then what does it mean if your appetite has decreased dramatically?

I'm just over week 2 of Induction, and I've noticed my appetite decreasing. In fact, I could have gone all day today without eating, but I forced myself to.

Is this decrease in appetite a sign that I'm doing things right, or a sign that my body is trying to shut down its metabolism to conserve energy for "starvation mode"?
