I am glad I found this place.

I am cami. I started atkins in January with my husband. He is down 20 pounds and I am still struggling to get off 12 stupid pounds! Pretty depressing to see him happy every time he gets on the scale I really do appreciate this new woe. I am a true/blue carb/sugar addict. The first few days of induction were so very hard for me. I felt like I would never make it! But, I did and I feel really great to be "sugar-free" for the first time in my life. I am pretty frustrated right now. I am staying around 30 carbs per day and still the scale is not moving. I work out every day. I go to the gym on m,w,f and do a 30-50min cardio with at least 25 min of weight training. On thurs I do a kickboxing class and on the other days of the week I jog between 3-5 miles.

So, I hope to get some motivation and different ideas here!

Nice to meet y'all in advance

Welcome to the forum, and to one of the most unpleasant truths in life: men lose faster than we do! My spouse, who began this WOL a week or two after I did, is down 37 lbs. I am down 29. His pants are falling off; mine are just now comfy. Just doesn't seem fair!

You'll find lots of encouragement and support here. You've made a great start, and the best benefit is how much better you're feeling!

Hi Cami-
Don't be discouraged, you are moving in the right direction and fighting your addiction. You should be proud of your 12 lbs lost. Don't forget to keep track of thoses measurements too!
Welcome!!

Hi cami, you are doing great! A couple of things that might help you lose faster are 1, drinking alot of water. Women tend to retain water more then men, so the more water you drink, the more your body gets rid of. Another is try dropping your carb intake to 20 grams a day...this will put your body into ketosis, and then slowly raise it until you notice that you stop losing. good luck

Thank you for your replies. I would like to kick my husband in his skinnier butt! But, I just need more patience! (something in which I am sorely lacking )

I have upped my water intake. This whole woe has been a challenge to my very soul I am the diet coke drinking, low fat yogurt eating, carb addict, if it has sugar in it it is ok, licorice eating machine! I figured if it was less than 5g's of fat, it was ok to eat! I worked in a health club during the "low fat" days of the 80's and changing my way of thinking has been tough!
