Question Peanut Butter and Cool Whip

I don't know if I need to confess about these or not?? I find that if I get a craving in the evening that a spoonful of peanut butter (Peter Pan or Simply Jif) will help settle me down. Also in the evenings, I have been having a sugar free jello topped with Cool Whip. I have tried, to no avail, to find sugar free Cool Whip, or any type of whipped cream. Does anyone know where I could find s/f whipped topping?

I just want opinions...is this truly a "cheat" or "mistake"? I am still losing weight and have not found myself craving any other carbs by eating these 2 products. I guess my thought is that they both have *gasp* sugar. I am trying so hard to live sugar free...these have become my 2 biggest vices.
Advice, comments welcome...please

Beth

Cool

I have been using the Redi Whip brand...in the can. There are less than 1 gr of carbs in a TBS. I only use a squirt or two on my jello. I think it's okay...I dont go overboard and it doesnt make me crave sweets. But it tastes good on SF jello.

So its RediWhip in the red and white can. But I guess just read the lables .I found the cans to be lower in carb. count than the CoolWhip.

If you dont want to go this route then whip some heavy cream with Splenda. Make sure the bowl and beaters are chilled at it will whip up really fluffy!

So hope this helps!

Take Care and happy LCarbing!

Thanks Waterbaby
I think I will go out and buy the Rediwhip - I will let hubby & child finish off the rest of the Cool Whip - no great loss.
I think I will sacrifice the gram of sugar in the Rediwhip to avoid trying to make whip cream

I have the sugar-free jell-o and cool whip quite often. That's my sweet treat. I HAVE to have something sweet. I have yet to have it affect me in any way except to curb my cravings for other sweets that I simply can't have (like that box of girl scout cookies in the pantry!). I haven't tried the stuff in the can. Hmm. mebbe I should. I know there is a low fat cool whip, but I've never seen sugar free.

Default no no no no not cheating

Having a spoonfull of peanut butter with whipped cream is wonderful. Now, having pasta and choclate cake...thats cheating

Let your scale make the decision. If you aren't getting good results on the scale, try cutting out the peanut butter and whip cream and see what happens.

ohmagawsh - did you ever hit a nerve with me!

I came home from work this evening and went for the celery and cheese - ended up with celery laden with peanut butter!!

Before I started LCing - I never had cravings for peanut butter!
What's up with that?

Also - for the sweet fixes - I've been whipping real heavy cream with a splash of vanilla and some Stevia (I won't use aspartame anymore because I'm concerned about it's alleged connection with Altzheimer's disease). You can get Stevia at health food stores or Holistic Pharmacies. Caution though - only use a little bit - it's wayyyy sweet and a bit cloying.
