I have to agree with Frederick. If I had to order from the internet to get the low carb products that I wanted to try or use, I'd probably only do it rarely (I think I've ordered low carb products via the internet twice in 2 years).
Ever check the shipping charges on perishible foods?
I do live in an area where the availability and selection of low carb products is fairly good (and getting better, I might add), but the longer I low carb, the less I tend to use these products.
OTOH, I did make a special trip to the health food store today to get soy protein powder, unprocessed wheat bran, whole almonds and vital wheat gluten to make some recipes that are in a new cookbook I got. I figure if I can learn to make these things myself, it will not only save me $$, but I'll also know exactly what's in them. I made cranberry muffins (mostly for the kids) and dinner rolls (mostly for DH) and they both turned out well and were even pretty tasty. Aside from the Splenda, all the ingredients were minimally processed and natural.
Okay...maybe I'm more adventurous in the kitchen than most, but I've never preferred mixes over home made and if this is going to be a WOL for me, I'd rather learn how to make my own goodies than be dependent on an industry that practically makes you sign over your firstborn for some of their products.
