Kisal,

Even the daikon, you boil first, then blot, then grate?. or do you just grate?
or do you just boil the regular radishes? (and then grate).
Do you have to boil the turnips to before grating?
Has anyone tried this with jicama?

What does parboil mean?

I started out using diced red radishes, but now I've switched to using daikon radish, because it's easy to grate ... just like a potato. I prefer grated hashbrowns.

What makes these so great is that crunchy, crisp taste that I missed at breakfast.

CAULIFLOWER HASH BROWNS
12 ounces fresh cauliflower, grated, about 1/2 medium head
4 slices bacon, chopped
3 ounces onion, chopped, about 1/2 cup
1-2 tablespoons butter, optional
Salt and pepper, to taste

In a medium-large nonstick skillet, cook the bacon and onion until they just start to brown. Add the cauliflower; cook and stir until the cauliflower is tender and nicely browned all over. You can add a couple tablespoons of butter during cooking. This will speed up the browning and add nice flavor. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Makes 4 servings
Do not freeze

this looks so good! I can almost smell it cooking now!

This is from the Induction list on this forum:

Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these vegetables, in any combination if your salad portion does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:

Artichoke, celery root, pumpkin, artichoke hearts, rhubarb, asparagus, chard, sauerkraut, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, beet greens, broccoli, broccoli rabe, Brussels sprouts, cabbage (red, green, Savoy), cauliflower, chayote, collard greens, dandelion greens, eggplant, hearts of palm, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, okra, onion, scallions, snow peas, spaghetti squash, spinach, string or wax beans, summer squash, tomato, turnips, water chestnuts, zucchini

If you have a concern about onion then cut way back or go without, I have and they are still great. They really, really are great. I think I'll go and make them now.

While in induction (oh my, it's been soooo long I had to go and check my online notes/blog) I would sometimes use just a tablespoon of real onion and then put some onion powder in there...and I never felt lacking for more onion.

Man, these are my new favorite thing! Grating them serves the same job as a food mill, I think, it was like they were riced-and now I know how to rice cauliflower! I bet this would make good fritters, a little egg, almond flour maybe. Good thing I can get heads cheap at foodmaxx!

Tried this soon after I saw the recipe - WINNER! Thanks for positng. The only problem is that I ate the entire recipe in one sitting it was so good. In the future I might halve the recipe because I don't know if I have the fortitude to leave it alone. Reminded me a bit of fried rice. I might try it in the future with the addition of a scrambled egg, some scallions, garlic, ginger and soy sauce. Maybe even some diced cooked chicken. YUM.
