Talking Ahhhhhhhhh Nuts!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I have a question about some macadamia nuts that I bought. Carbs are 4 grams and the fiber is 3 grams. That does mean I only need to count 1 gram as the "NET CARBS"? It sounds almost too good to be true!!! Thanks--Angie
STATS:
Total fat: 22G
Sat. fat:3.7 G.
carbs: 4 G.
Fiber: 3 G.
Sugars: 1 G.
Protein: 3 G.

The gram carb counter in the Atkins book shows Macadamia nuts as having .9 digestible carbs for 2 tablespoons. I'm not quite sure how to measure a tablespoon of Macadamias; but if you check the serving size on the package you should be able to approximate the carbs. So your idea is basically correct. If you subtract the fiber from the carbs, what is left is what you count.

Good Luck!

That's why Dr. Atkins is so fond of macadamia nuts ! He mentions them often.

Hi Angie,

Can you tell us the serving size and the calorie count?

Thumbs up re: nuts

The calories are 215--the serving size is for 1 oz.

Hi Angie,

The reason I asked about calories and serving size was in case the carbs had been presubtracted. But it looks as though they haven't, so my humble advice would be to enjoy!

And as manucpa says, no wonder Dr A so often mentions them!

Cheers!

Rosebud

Enjoy, but remember that they have a lot of calories. While we don't count calories on Atkins, calories are not unlimited. Macadamia nuts have a tendency to throw some people into a weight-loss stall -- eat them in moderation.

Ya, I gained 2 pounds one night on those critters. It took me over 2 weeks to lose it. Nothing worse than gaining weight on a LC food!

One serving= One ounce=11 whole nuts (about!)
This is from fitday. I always eat 6 nuts in the a.m and the other 6 in the afternoon to keep myself from feeling hunger in between meals. It's easy to have a ziplock of 11 nuts at a time in my car. Never keep too many if you can't resist. I can stop, some folks can't.
