Question induction, salad dressings and aspartamine

I am starting induction and a little confused with the induction according to Atkins you can't have salad dressings with added sugar? So what dressings are left? My husband will NOT eat anything with vinegar and I highly doubt the lemon juice will be a go for him either? Is there any store bought salad dressings that are tasty and fit into the category. Here all along I thought we were going to be able to have ranch or ceaser because they both have 1 carb per serving. Also what's wrong with aspartamine? Where do you find soda's made with splenda? If the only problem with aspartamine is that it's a trigger or it gives you headaches. Then I don't think I will have a problem with that.

thanks
Kim

Hi Kim!
Today is my first day on Induction and I am sailing through it very smoothly. No withdrawals or anything like I've expected. One of the things I notice is that I have to eat enough fats. I used olive oil to cook my eggs this morning and it was soo good. I know some people who start the diet are afraid of fats because we've been brainwashed for so long into believing that fats are bad for us. But using fats is the healing ingredient for a messed-up carb addict. Have you ever tried putting olive oil in salad? They are delicious!!! Actually, soak it up! Pour the darn olive oil until the whole bowl grease up. I promise you that this will help you control your appetite so much better than regular salad dressing. I am not using mayonnaise or any salad dressing. They tend to increase my appetite even with a little sugar content in them. So I use olive oil in all my veggies...experiment experiment experiment!!!

Hi Kim,

There are many store bought salad dressings, including ranch and caesar, that are suitable. They nearly all have sugar in them, but in such tiny amounts, that it's not a problem.

Just get into the habit of reading labels religiously. I seem to remember Dr A saying that salad dressings are fine as long as they have less than 2g carbs per serve. They all seem to have a little sugar in the contents. Just make sure that sugar is way down the list of ingredients. I use a Caesar dressing that has sugar in it, but has only .03g carbs per 30g (1 oz) serve.

As for aspartame, Dr A says use with caution because of questions about its safety. I don't use it because I don't like the taste!

HTH

Hi their .

When I started I used to mix up some sour cream and cream with mustard and pour a little on my salad or even on hot food . taste great . but now I like my salads with no dressing . But I like mustard ( not the hot ones) All so I might add a little avocado
