Default Why do cardiologists bring pastry?

I've worked at two hospitals and the cardiologists always bring pastries on the weekend. Is this job security? I usually don't have any problem ignoring it but I have an incredibly stressful job and every once in a while I feel like having some. Just because I'm stressed. It has been better since I started walking on the treadmill at lunch and after work. I know I will be able to destress that way so I am not tempted but yikes!, those guys should know better. I have never seen them drop off a plate of veggies, lol.

Could you ask your coworkers to put them out of sight? It's such a little thing but it makes a difference!

Cardiologists are just people, in that they want other people to like them. So they bring the food item that will please the masses. Unfortunately, what the masses wants is carby, unhealthy food. I work with doctors too and I find it really ironic that they bring crap junk food to social function when they, of ALL PEOPLE, should know better. But what can ya do?

For me, the best thing was the free bar.

I work in an Emergency department and you should see the candy, chips and other junk food the Doctors bring in for the staff, especially on the night shift...
Not looking forward to going back to work for that reason alone...

I am not sure that they "know". I think like a lot of doctors they probably believe if you remain thin you can eat whatever you want.
