Default Indigestion

This is my fourth week doing Atkins, and I am experiencing indigestion. The first time was last week when I reintroduced artichokes back into my diet.

My sister is also doing Atkins and she is experiencing the same thing. We both had mid back pain as well.

Anybody else feeling the same way or is fighting indigestion?

Smile indigestion

Hi Doris. This is my very first post and the reason I even signed up was because of this very issue!

I re-started the Atkins' diet at the first of this year after going off during the holidays. And for the last 2 weeks or so, it seems like my food is not getting digested completely. Meaning, I can still taste it the next day as if I had just finished it! (sorry to be so graphic). So - I'm not really answering your question, more like joining you in asking the bigger group for HELP!!!!

I am not certain about this, but I think when a person suddenly switches to a high-fat diet (especially if they've been doing low fat most of the time previously) there can be some un-masking of gall bladder problems. Perhaps if you do a search of the forum, or the Atkins website www.atkinscenter.com you may find some answers.

I hope you feel better sooon!!!

Thank you for your reply. It does seem to be getting better, but it was very gross for a couple of weeks.

My mid-back pain was due to calcium loss. This is particularly prevalent early (several weeks) in the diet, but the loss decreases after a while (several months) on a low-carb plan. Taking a calcium supplement daily helped me.

Also, if one particular food is bothering you, you may have an allergic reaction to it, or you may have an intolerance for it. I would try to avoid any food that I knew was responsible.
