I want AgonyCat for my personal diet adviser
The advice to read the book is spot on. It's chock full of advice, information and there are good recipes from Mrs. Atkins at the back - I've tried a few and they were simple, tasty, quick and easy to tart up by adding herbs/spices, etc..
You didn't mention drinks, but coffee/caffeine is not allowed on the diet. The fact that you're so exhausted when you get home is maybe an indication that you find your job stressful or demanding. It's tempting to get through the day by drinking coffee, but instead make sure you have a good breakfast and a good lunch, drink water instead of coffee (or switch to decaf) and try to take some "quiet times" at work, (even if you have to visit the loo to get them)... Also, low blood sugar will drain you, so try taking a snack for eating towards the end of your working day, so that by the time you arrive home, you can relax for a bit before you hit the kitchen. A lot of the secret of successful dieting is learning how to manage the food restrictions around your normal lifestyle, and learning ways of handling life problems without resorting to food or drink as a crutch.
Here's a thread from the archives with good ideas from people with demanding schedules. I tried MizKitty's soup, and it was awesome.

Don't give up the diet - the beginning is more tough because you need to find new recipes and ideas, but it gets much easier, and the cravings will pass.
Good luck
