Default Bloodwork next WEd, should I reduce meds now?

I thought I read somewhere that it's a good idea to cut back or even skip meds for a bit before bloodwork. Is this true? How long, how much? Hate to do it becaue I'm feeling good and hate to mess w/what's working....

If you feel well then I wouldn't mess with it. This is a trick that some people use in an effort to skew the lab work in a negative manner. The theory goes like this. If I don't take the correct prescribed dosage...and the doctor believes that I am...and the lab work comes back bad...then the doctor will increase my dosage. This is what some people are forced into when their TSH is...say...3.4...and they feel their best between 0-1. Most doctors will not increase thyroid medication when the TSH level is in the "technically normal" range...regardless of how the patient feels. So...those people would do something like only take half of a pill every other day....or something similar...to throw the lab results out of the normal range. When the doctor ups the medication....they will then begin taking the full dosage until the next lab result in the hopes that it will put them closer to their goal TSH levels.

However....the overall goal is simply to feel better. It sounds like you feel good, and my suggestion is to not mess with a good thing. Congratulations on your success so far.

If you were trying to skip meds to skew your lab values then you would have needed to stop meds 4-6 weeks ago. Seriously you want your lab value to accurately measure what your body is actually doing other wise why bother testing. You don't want to get your meds increased beyond what you need and end up being hyperthyroid.

Don't change your meds without a doctors advise.
