Default cold cereal?

can you make a cold cereal out of flaxseed - or anything else for that matter. DH is having an LC crisis and wants his cereal with cold milk again and I have to say, it would be nice.
Don't like the gumminess of hot flaxseed - any 'cold' ideas gratefully received
Thanks, Jay

try having some wheat bran - a generous tablespoon or so - sprinkled with a little Splenda, then add a little blob of heavy cream and thin with water...
It tastes and looks 'cereal' ish...
We found you could not eat much of this at one sitting as its rather chewy...

carb count depends on how much wheat bran you use...
(bonus - helps keep you 'regular'!!)

A tad late on this one ... sorry but I just logged back in after an absence.

One trick I did when I got the Cereal Crazies is I broke up some pork rinds into small pieces into a cereal bowl. I sprinkked Splenda (or any sugar substitue you use) and cinnamon on top of it. I added a touch of heavy (whipping) cream dilluted with water. Sometimes I even added a dash of vanilla extract. I liked it very much ... I didn't like the other hot cereal recipies though.

Hope this helps.

Desparate times call for desparate measures.

1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup raspberries or blackberries
dash of cinnamon
dash of real vanilla
cover with heavy whipping cream

All the good stuff you put into cereal to make it taste good!!

Default cereal

Here's a suggestion for dh in dire need of cold cereal. I eat these when I too have the need for cold cereal. They are called Red Wheat Puffed Cereal(kind of like honey smacks without the honey) 1 cup serving
60 cals.
0 choles
0 sodium
67 potassium
12 carbs
2 fibers
0 sugar
2 protein
I pour me up a serving, put a little spenda , dash of cinnamon and yum. Add 1/2 cream and 1/2 water to make milk. Depending on dh CCC he should be able to work this in.
p.s. these are inexpensive. Paid only $0.98out of Wal-Mart

Default Kashi cereal

You could try Kashi 7-grain cereal and seasame (I think that's what it's called). A whopping one cup serving is 10 digestible carbs. It's not sweet, though, so you DH can add supra or sweatener and vanilla.

I use about 1/2 cup with a 1 cup serving of yogurt.

I just found this thread again - some great ideas folks, thank you. We're both still going, but some variation with breakfast, plus something faster than the full fried monty, will certainly help.

Default haven't tried this yet

I copied these a long time ago and I can't remember which website to give credit to. I haven't tried any of these yet, so if you do please post the results.

Piekinns' Flax Seed Granola
from Piekinns (!)

1 lb ground flax seeds
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup thin sliced almonds
1 Tbl pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup splenda
1 Tbl vanilla
6 egg whites
1/2 cup water

Mix dry stuff and wet stuff in separate bowls, then mix together.
Spread it in a jelly roll pan and bake untill compleatly dry at 250 for about 3 hrs.
Every hour while baking, take a fork and break up any large bits.
Cool completely before it is stored.

Crunchy Snack

1/2 cup kellogg's all-bran with extra fiber
nuts of your choice
butter
cinnamon
unsweetened shredded coconut
artificial sweetener of your choice (powdered)

Spread the all-bran on a cookie sheet.
Melt a bit of butter and pour it over the all-bran.
Throw on some nuts and a bit of coconut.
Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Bake at 350 for maybe 10 minutes or so, stirring once to mix it all up.
AFTER it comes out, sprinkle sweetener on it sparingly.
