Question Reward Meal Salad??

Just wondering :

On two CAD plans, you have to have salad before your reward meal.

(1) What roughly would be two cups worth expressed in grams?

(2) What kinds of things would you eat in an RM Salad?

Could anybody give me an example of an RM salad they might have with some clue as to how much would be meat, salad vegetables ....

Any hints/tips gratefully received ....

Atkid, Ive got a cup measure ( waitrose) and my cup is = to a handful so thats how I measure it these days.. will weigh it next time for you..

it says in CAD you can add any veg. to it because its at RM. So I often add cooked kenyan green bean and onion.

I buy whatever bagged up salad is on special offer at the time. ususlly includes radiccio ,lambs lettuce, etc, and use one handful of that , then one handful chopped iceberg.

this gives about a cereal bowlful of leaves.

No idea why its supposed to be beforehand unless its to curb the appetite. Any ideas ? I dont know it makes any difference to me. Far as Im concerned its simply a vehicle for a tablespoon of 1000 island......

CM salad is lettuces and then up to two cups of veggies from the list. RM salad is the lettuces and then whatever veggies you want. My RM salad is usually 3-4 cups (US, sorry) small mixing bowl size? twice the size of a cereal bowl? Because I have meat already on my plate, it's usually all veggies and sometimes cheese too. I like Plums suggestion of bagged lettuces. I usually mix my salad once a week like this--rectangular container, paper towel in bottom, layered torn/shredded, fairly dry lettuce(s), red cabbage, celery, scallions (green onions), sometimes parsely and dried garlic, paper towel on top. Keeps fresh for over a week. Another container--chopped tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, mushrooms with a little Italian salad dressing mixed in. Keeps fresh for 3-4 days. When salad time, handfuls of one, scoop of the other, additions, dressing.

I remember seeing the Hellers on Oprah several years ago and they said the idea of the salad was to coat the stomach with a lining of fat (from dressing) to absorb nutrients. I would also suspect it's a good way to sneak in vitamins and all that good stuff at the beginning of a meal. Could be wrong, but that's what I recall.
