Question bacon and sausage

I really like the idea of bacon or sausage for breakfast(without guilt),however I cannot find any without some sugar. Is there such a thing?? Even the fresh sliced has some sugar added.

I think we'd all like to stay away from sugar, but getting absolutely none is near impossible. Pick the bacon with the lowest carbs/less sugar - but be sure to count that towards your daily carb count.

Gwaltney brand has no added sugar. And it is lower in sodium than most.

I just buy bacon that says "No added sugar" and has good carbs per servering. Look on the back of the package. Alot of them dont advertise on the front "no added sugar".

Default Am I in ketosis

I did a ketostix test earlier today and it showed up very dark purple, 2nd darkest purple there was (or inbetween) after 15 seconds. It was definately purple though, no where near pink. I've only been on atkins for 3 days (not even 3 days). Does this mean i'm in ketosis?. I was pretty happy to see it turn purple. How dark of purple does it need to be for me to be in ketosis though?

Someone give me some good news

Default sausages (wheat!!!)

It sure is hard to find sausages that don't have wheat glutten in the ingredients. I didn't buy them, but I wonder how bad that is? I just started, day 3, so I don't want to blow it. Anyone out there know?????? Thx. Suzanne

Default My wife does the shopping...

...and I tell her to just buy "bacon". So she usually gets the Hormel Black Label stuff.

I've never read the label to be honest, but I keep losing so I don't worry too much about it.

By all means buy what makes YOU comfortable and what works.

Yuckycarbo, any color means you are shedding ketones. Many people are in ketosis and show no color. DLB

Wheat in sausages? Yuck. The sausages I buy are Jones brand all natural. No sugar or fillers added. It's always good to look for more "natural" products. Good luck.

Yuckycarbo,

I just wanted to tell you, YES, YOU ARE IN KETOSIS! I am very happy for you. I get into ketosis but very rarely am I in the "purple". Good for you. Keep up the good work and remember to drink just a bit more water. Now that you know you have hit ketosis, drink more and it will flush it out faster but it won't show as purple. Again, congratulations!
