Cool Liver disorder

Hello everyone,
I am new to this diet just over a month now and dispite the lightheadedness at the beginning of the diet I feel GREAT and better still I'm losing kilos.
However I am very concerned over one point a very embarassing one at that!! I seem to have to go to the toilet three times a day and the stools are greasy and don't flush away. A friend told me this is a sign of liver disorder has anyone out there got a similar problem.

I would hate to stop this diet, as I seem to be doing well with it, but I do feel tried recently.
PLEASE HELP

I found this site doing a web search. It seems to answer some of your questions.

http://www.afraidtoask.com/bowel/color.html

There are two ways to look at this. One is that the charactaristics of your stool changed after you changed your diet. So you can attribute the change to your diet.

The other way is that the change occurred independently of the diet but at the same time, masking a more serious problem.

Only your doctor can decide which is which. Greasy stools can be indidate a serious but probably rare problem, or nothing but the fact that you are eliminating a lot more fat through your digestion.

See the doctor soon but stay on the diet until he tells you there is something to worry about.

You could quickly test this yourself by eating bread, potatoes & other starches and sugars for 2 days. If things return to how they were before LC, then you know it's the new way of eating. If the problem continues, then see the Dr. asap.

I know that I am one of the minority of people who has diarrhea on LC & I have to take psyllium every day.

Hope you find out soon and can stop worrying.

Thanks so much for your replies.
I shall continue with the Atkins and arrange to see the doctor next week, but you have bith put my mind at rest.
After several years on a low fat diet it could be that my body is finding it hard to adjust to cream, macadamia nuts and all the other forbidden foods that I am now able to enjoy.
Thanks again for all your help.

Hi there Kaza,

A sudden, large increase in dietary fat can cause fatty stools. I suspect you'll find things will "normalize" soon.

You are very wise to consider checking with your doctor if things don't settle, just to be sure.

Cheers, matey.
