Default Diet Not working

My name is Lynn Rodens, and I have been on the Low
Carb/Atkins diet for the past month now. I have not lost
a pound. I friend suggested that it was caffine so I
limited my caffine to 1 cup per day. I then tried reducing
the amount of cheese I was eating to 2-3 slices per day.
That is not working either. I am eating 1-2 eggs, cheese,
fish and meat and nothing else.
Please help. The only thing I have not added on is
exersise. Is this the problem?
Thank you
Happy Holidays
Lynn Rodens

Hi Lynn. Lack of exercise could be the culprit. To quote from the book, "if you're not exercising, you're not doing Atkins." Have you read the more recent edition of the book? If not, it's well worth it. There are quite a few changes, such as eating three cups of veggies per day.

We can help you out a bit more if you post a typical daily menu, or start a journal.

Good luck and happy new year!

Kristine,

Thank you for your reply. Here is a typical day:

Breakfast:

3 egg white cheese omlette (2 oz cheese). 1/2-1 cup coffee

Lunch

Canned tuna, fresh fish or chicken. Sometimes deli
pastrami or turkey.

celery sticks

Dinner

Meat, or cheese or fish. Sometimes some
green veggie in small portion.

1 Atkins bar before I go to bed.

TONS of Water, diet soda (caffine free), caffine free tea, seltzer.
NOBODY drinks as much as me. My husband teases me.

Thanks again. I will read the updated book.

Happy holidays,

Regards,
Lynn

A-ha: it could be the Atkins bars, too. Many folks on this forum have said that they can have a stalling effect. I don't think they're recommended for induction.

HTH.

Hi Lynn,

I agree about the Atkins bars. They contain sugar alcohols, which according to Dr A, don't affect insulin levels. However as Kristine says, many folk are stalled by them.
For more information on sugar alcohols (and lots of other things, too) have a look at "Low Carb Tips" on the orange bar at the top of the screen.

One more thing stands out in your menu, Lynn. You don't seem to be eating much fat. Fat is your main source of fuel in this WOE, so there's no need for just egg whites (unless you have an aversion to the yolks )

All the best!

Rosebud

I hope you have found some hope and a few solutions to your weight loss. I will tell you this for certain, don't give up before the miracle happens. I lost almost the bulk of my weight in about 10 days even though I'd been on the deal for a month (Atkins). I'm still doing induction, but as it has been suggested, getting most of my carbs from a big asss salad with veggies for lunch, fat for breakfast and dinner in the form of eggs, cream, bacon, etc.

Carb On!
