Question Does anyone have a George Foreman Grill? How do you like it?

I was wondering if a George Foreman Grill is a good LC tool.

I don't mind barbecueing in less than ideal weather but it gets dark here these days at about 4:30 pm. Thought a GF grill might be handy.

Any thoughts?
Thanks for your input,
amie

Default Hello

i have the smallest GF grill. I like it. I use it mainly at work. Whn I don't have enough time to cook something I can cook it up at work.

I find it works really well on hamburger patties, thin sliced pork chops and chicken breast. The chicken works best if it is not real thick or sliced in strips. I have not had lots of luck with steak...prob because i like thicker steaks and they tend to get too overdone on the outside before the inside is warm enough.

In general I really like it to keep at work to help me stay LC in a pinch. Maybe you should try the smallest one it is only about 19$ US at walmart here

Good Luck

I have a Lean Mean Grilling Machine and I use it almost everyday. I have a medium size one that cooks up to four burgers. Have had it since they first came out, maybe 10 years. I've always used it but not as much as the last 6 weeks. It now stays on the counter.

I cook everything in it. Burgers, pork tenderloins, chicken breast , steak and hot dogs for the kids. I never have a problem with it, it cooks really fast so it takes a little time to get use to chicken breast cooking in 6 minutes either that or you end up with dry meat.

And what an easy clean up. doesn't get anybetter than wiping it away.

Great machine to have, definately worth getting!!!

Kathy

Good machine, but I ended up going to another brand because I had trouble with the no-stick coating peeeling off in less than a year. When I posted this on another board, some people had had no problems and others had the same problem as me. Could be a quality control problem, I followed the cleaning instructions that came with the machine. DLB

I love mine! BUT don't limit yourself to the George Foreman brand name. Lots of companies make them now. I have one called The Zone. I bought it at a garage sale... GREAT place to look for them! The one I have was purchased on HSC. I just love mine, because the heating plates come out for easy and thorough cleaning! The George Foreman appliances... although I've used them and like them very much... don't have the lift-out plates... so cleaning them is tricky!

Be sure and look for them at garage sales. I think people get them as gifts or something and never use them! I bought a large George Foreman grill for my sister... complete with instruction books, mits, grease catcher and warranty card for five bucks!

I just bought a George Foreman grill for my parents for Christmas. They live in ski country, and I can't imagine my dad shovelling the snow just to get to the barbecue and make a couple of burgers! I think I'll be getting one for myself, too. Not necessarily GF brand, but I got that for my folks partially for humour value.

Love mine, keep it on the counter for burgers, chicken, fish and it puts the neatest grill marks on hot dogs. I'm getting the larger outdoors one for Christmas, since living in an apartment you can't have charcoal or gas on patio's.

And you know what else is great on the Foreman-type Grill? VEGGIES! This summer when I cooked the larger zucchini's, I sliced them lengthwise about 1/2" thick. I just put seasoning on them and grilled them. FABULOUS!

Wow! Thanks for all the responses!

I will definitely keep my eyes open at garage sales after Christmas, when people are getting rid of all the stuff they didn't want! Thanks for the tip!

And I won't necessarily stick to GF brand. Just had it in my head they were the best for some reason.

Also never thought about the possibility of grilled vegies. We love doing those on the BBQ so it would be great to quickly grill up some zucchini for lunch.

Great ideas!
Thanks all,
amie

It's also great for cooking pork sausage patties. I usually cook up the entire pound, eat some and freeze the rest. Sure saves a lot of grease spatters on the stove. I also make grilled ham and cheese - just like a sandwich, but use thicker ham slice, top with cheese and then another ham slice, heat for 1 minute.....voila, lunch. Can do the same thing making reuben sandwiches. Corned beef top and bottom with sauerkraut and swiss cheese tucked inside - yummy!!

Thumbs up George Foreman Grill

This thing is really great for cooking up some hamburgers or chicken in a jiffy. I highly recommend owning one to make low carbing as easy as possible. If you live alone or with one other person, the small one will do, but if you have a large family, I'd recommend the larger sizes. Usually on the small one I have we can only fit 2 patties at a time.

I use it almost every day. However, what _I_ do different - since I hate cleaning - is line it with aluminum foil. One sheet on the bottom, one on the top. When the meat (or chicken) is done, I throw out the foil and have only to rinse out the fat-dripping-thing and put it away. Very easy!!

What a GREAT idea, sroo! Why didn't I think of that! I'm going to pass that one on to my sister. Thanks!
