Default Deoderant

Okay - embarrassing but maybe someone out there has a suggestion.

I've been on atkins about 12 weeks and I thought maybe the body oder thing would go away but it seems like it's just as bad or maybe a bit worse.

I take a shower in the morning, put on deoderant, work out at lunch, wash and put on deoderant and before I go to bed I wash and put on deoderant. I've been using Sure or Arrid XXX Dry. Can someone recommend a deoderant that might work better.

I would just die if someone at the office thought I didn't bathe!

Drink more water to wash some of the ketones down the toilet. The strong BO smell is probably because you're not drinking enough water. Try to drink about 1.5 to 2 litres everyday.

Hope this helps

I like Mitchem... and the add says you can even skip a day.

Gross but that gives you an idea of the power.

I use Mitchem too. I usually have to change deodorants every few months because they seem to quit working but Mitchem still works well. Worth the extra money.

I like Secret Platinum...I train horses for a living, and I SWEAT!!! This keeps me dry and from stinking. And, it doesn't turn white, and you can wear it with sleeveless shirts. I have been on this woe about a month, and I haven't noticed any body odor.

Just a thought. check your "deodorant" is it anti perspirant? If it is it will only help with the wetness but not the smell. Check other brands that are a combo of both.

I didn't think there was a difference, but there is.

Good luck!!

Thumbs up

I think that Mitchem is the best, too. And it really does work if you skip a day.

Thanks everyone! What a gross problem to a great eating plan. Oh well, can't have it all!

Off to WalMart to buy some Mitchem!

You might also try going sans deodorant for at least 3 days. Somtimes when we use anti-perspirant too much it kinda 'clogs' things up. Just shower and use an antibacterial soap such as Dial. Apply witch hazel only to armpits. Reapply if needed later in the day. Yes, you'll get a bit stinky, especially the second day, but it should start to cut back by the third day. You can also use zinc oxide powder like Gold Bond to help with wetness and odor. After that, only use anti-perspirant sparingly and go for deodorant only. I find the deodorant marketed for teenagers works best (like Teen Spirit). Just be sure it's deodorant only. Also use anti-bacterial soap such as Dial or deodorant soap such as Tom's or Irish Spring. I've found since I pretty much quit using anti-perspirant and just use deodorant I smell much cleaner.

I have found that dusting my armpits with a little bit of baking soda before putting on the deoderant helps tremendously. I use a solid stick (Tom's of Maine) which I wet under the faucet just a bit before applying.
