Default Alternative to cough syrup?

I've had a nasty cold, and was coughing so much last night that I couldn't sleep. So, I took a dose of Delsym, my favorite cough syrup. It wasn't until this morning that I realized syrup=sugar. Is there a good alternative to cough syrup that really works?

Look for sugar free cough syrup in your local pharmacy - it is made originally for diabetics - taste horrible! but works well, and that is what counts.

You could also try cough syrup capsules, pills that you swallow that provide the same medicine. Those wouldn't have sugar in them, right? I mean, what would be the point?

DOWN WITH SUGAR!

That is why we need to read labels before assuming things do not contain sugar!!
You can get sugarfree cough medicines if you ask for diabetic-suitable ones
