Thank you for posting your Success Story
So much of your story matches my own. I hope my success will match yours. I too have used food to dull the pain, to stifle the feelings. I too have had a brush with 12step programs and left them behind. Some mantras stick, but I do not attend meetings. Still have a lot of 12step literature and some tapes. Probably will fall in with 12step programs again someday. For now, the online support of various LC groups seems to help me. Thanks for posting your story and for sticking up for yourself. I look forward to hearing how you do in maintenance and what happens as you create a new life for yourself.

Thank you for posting your story, It is much like mine, but then again, I have heard my own story of alcohol abuse over and over again, it is just that I also did the food adiction also, and it is wonderful that you have reached goal. I also overeat legal foods, as a food addict will, but so far I am still losing. I love that you set a sensible weight for your height also, I am 5'8 and have often been asked why i did not set a lower weight, but I try to make healthy choices for myself today.

Thank you for sharing your story! What a blessing and treasure you are!! I too was a thin child with a food pushing fat mother....how I related to much of your story! I do believe alcohol and sugar addiction are different forms of the same thing. Everyone on my mother's side of the family was a raging alcoholic including my brother. Me, I became a sugar addict instead. But no more! Now I LOVE ME enough to want to be all the wonderful things I was intended to be. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for sharing your story!!

Wow, what a story! It really sounds to me like even aside from the emotional pain you must have some genetic predisposition to being emotionally-affected by incoming carbs. You've had a heck of a life! What a challenge. I really admire that you were able to decide what you wanted to be and become it.
I also admire your efforts toward exercise, and proactively approaching the details of your plan - like looking for the problem that turned out to be the sweetener, and using the treadmill every day.
I'm glad you found the low carb forum, and I'm glad I found it and found you. It really is inspirational. Thanks for that.

Thanks, everyone, for your nice comments. It's five months later, and I'm still maintaining (for the first time ever after losing weight) quite easily.
