Unhappy new to atkins

I started the Atkins diet Oct.23. (3 weeks) I haven't lost a pound! I am in Ketosis. It fluctuates everyday no matter what I eat.
I probably average approx. 10-15 carbs. a day. I have headaches and feel lousy. Whats wrong with me? I eat mostly steak, eggs, chicken ,mayo and few slices of tomato. I ate some of those advantage low carb candy bars until I read an article of how they, too, convert to carbohydrates and slow weight loss.! Also, are pork rinds okay?

Hi Dana,

Try upping your carbs to 20 grams/ day. You should eat any less than 20 grams, and I didn't see veggies in your list of things that you usually eat, they are very important. Also, you should drink lots of water. Good luck, hope that helps!

Dana - I've always had good experiences with this WOE , but I think the biggest point I would stress is drink water! I stay away from any thing with fake sugars (except occasionally Splenda).

Also, are you exercising at all? I find that adding a little exercise really kick starts the fat burning process.

I don't know , I would be worried about feeling awful all the time , since one of the things I like the best is that I feel so energized all the time now. Are you also taking your supplements? I find that taking my vitamins makes a world of difference.

Good Luck!

So, First, Shelley, your saying it might be that I am not eating ENOUGH carbs? Do calories have anything to do with it?I am not counting calories. I am drinking as much water as I can handle. I do not want to start the vegtables yet until I start to lose.
Truqueen, Did you drink diet coke or cystal light?
I don't know why this is not happening for me......it just seems so easy for everyone else...............No I am not exercising, but Im pretty active.
I have yo-yoed alot in the past. Do you think my body is resisting this?
Thanks for responding.

If I am in Ketosis....that means I am doing everything right.......right? I should be losing weight eventually..........??????

Pork rinds are great for this WOE.

I agree, you need to take supplements - they can make all the difference! And you definately need to add some more carbs - in the form of veggies - just like Dr. Atkins suggests in him book.

If you've yo-yo'd in the past, your body could definately be healing itself. My two suggestions:

Go by the book - eat your veggies!
Patience, is definately a virtue.

Dana,

enjoy the pork rinds...dip them in sour cream with some LC onion soup mix, or some cream cheese...be creative with the snacking so you don't become bored or frustrated.

You should never be hungry on this WOE. As for the veggies...they are what help you to lose. It is the fiber and the nutrients in the veggies that you MUST have as most of your 20 gms per day. For lunch, I have a big salad with whatever is in the fridge...tuna salad, egg salad, bacon, cheese, mushrooms, etc. But I never miss my large helpings of greens and leafy things with each meal. That and a gallon of water a day are any LC'ers best friend.

Try that for a few days and you may get things moving!
