I kicked my ass at the gym today since I've been slacking off. Here's what I did in one session (not split that is)

Spinning 40 minutes 360 cals
X trainer 50 minutes 705 cals
Treadmill 20 minutes 190 cals

Total: 1255 cals

My goal is to burn 3500 cals a week by doing cardio. If I go over then I can "bank" them until the end of the month. This way I'll be able to have a more flexible workout schedule.

Wow! That's awesome progress for a novice runner!

Congrats on your progress. In my view, you've got it right. Cardio augmented by weight lifting is the perfect combination.

It pained me to read about some your struggles in Amory's journal. I can only hope you will now leave your struggles behind you.

Best of luck on your continued success.

P.S. I ran into my crush at the gym AFTER my workout when I was just getting on the rowing machine. How embarassing! He came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder (my music is so loud I couldn't hear him walking up). We were talking and I couldn't even look him in the eye because I felt so sweaty and gross! lol, I even said "sorry if I"m a little out of it right now, I just got down a really long workout" and said "oh its ok, I just got done too and took a shower and stuff"

Oh boy, I'm like a little school girl! ahh

Hey frederick - Yeah I really made some progress when I was going strong. Unfortunately, due to some lingering injuries from a serious car accident, the Dr. said I should probably try other forms of exercise by now.

When I was running everyday training for the 10k in August and September, I liked that sore feeling, or having to research the best running shoes and socks. About 2 weeks into it when I finally did a solid 6 miles at the track, I experienced that runners high, I was hooked. It made me feel like a real runner! Although, the aches and pains got to be too much. I've realized that this cross trainer I've been using at the gym works the body similar to running but doesn't put all the stress on my back. About once or twice a week I'll do my long cardio session on the treadmill. I start at 5.5 and every minute I increase it by .1 until its up to 7.0-7.5. Then I decrease it all the way down to 4.0 and I'm down. Something about changing the speed every minute makes the workout breeze by. I'm always super sore the next day though.

I do have a lot of issues I"m battling right now, especially with eating and control issues. I've realized that by "controlling" how much exercise I do, I can ease up on the eating issues. Its easier to go to the gym for an hour than to sit in front of chocolate cake and not eat a slice(or the whole cake)! lol

I'm just trying to find a balance. I've read in Women's FitnessRX that people actually become "addicted" to cardio exercise. I think I'm beginning to see why.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by, I'm going to check out your gym log now.

That looks really solid. Are you planning on always doing legs and abs with upper? I can recommend great isolation workouts...

I've been working hard; I went to the gym Mon, Tues, Wed, and today. Planning on going tomorrow. I've been alternating my weight routines everyday and even included drop sets today. took almost 1 hour. My body is really transforming. If I could only get my eating clean then I'd be a fitness model by now! haha I wish!
